I did a couple in school, but that has been ages ago. I'll check and see what I can find for you on the subject. I am really interested in that myself.

Here are three sites I found for solarplate printmaking. I'll keep looking for you.

http://www.solarplate.com
http://www.wsg.net/~sculpture/print.html

Thanks, Sassy. :)
I've got Dan Welden's book on solarplates -- was just wondering if anyone here had hands-on with them?

Did you do relief or intaglio with them in school?

thanks,
Gis

I did intaglio, and combined aqua tint, hard ground and dry point with the two I did.

thanks for the links!
got some reading material for the eve
I've been wondering about these too and it seems a good way to keep out of the acid
I hope someone comes by who has used them more for some explanations
Gisela, are you going to try some?

Hi Zotma,
I just got a couple of plates in the mail last week. I need to pick up a draw tool to cut them with and I'm hoping for some sun...!
I'm a little nervous about working with these before exposing them. I have them locked in a dark place for now, while I gather tools and make a contact frame.

will you keep up posted on process/progress?!
any chance you'd be willing to do a play by play?
great that you have some, can't wait to see what ya do.

I havne't used these but it sounds great! I like printing intaglio but the process is too time-consuming for me since I usually just take a few monoprints from it (rather than an edition). Have a friend who does mainly etching who wants to work at home but can't yet... she'll love this! :)

Ok, you talked me into it... :D
This'll be fun -- I'll start working on the play-by-play this weekend.

Keep your fingers crossed for some sun. ;)
