I'm returning to painting after a long hiatus. I've never taken a painting class, and have taken a handful of drawing and sculpture classes in my early 20's (over 10 years ago).

Anyhow, I've been inspired to paint again, living in the same building with two painters (my wife and a neighbor).

I've been encouraged to paint from many of my drawings and sketches. This is a totally new experience for me, as my paintings tend to be more textural and sculptural, and less structured.

Any feedback on which direction to go with this piece is welcomed. Criticism is also welcomed [you won't hurt my feelings ;)]

The size is 16"x20", acrylic on canvas.

As for the others...all acrylic. The red piece is painted on wood. And "Loss" is mixed media, acrylic and enamel paint, wood, and wood.

Thanks for the comments!

I like the way this one turned out, but I got bored with it (which explains the loss of detail, needs some touching up).

I like this style and will probably do similar color/themed, larger pieces.

Color is a language I like...I love this...the white is too shocking for my eyes though. I want to see more aqua blue, like aqua blue Moretti glass (i work glass)
