Lovely - great yellows and purples and no mud - looking forward to seeing it finished :)
05-05-2005, 04:48 PM
Wowsers this is beautiful. Even better on your website. And what an impressive full sheet color chart you have! Also like the WIP on the easel.
05-05-2005, 04:55 PM
Just beautiful!!!! great detail right down to the rain drops!!!!
05-05-2005, 05:06 PM
This is looking really wonderful.
It took a while to open up on the website, but it was worth the wait to see your color chart and set up.
Love to watch your progress.
05-05-2005, 05:53 PM
this is very lively looking forward to seeing it finished. Jan
05-05-2005, 07:50 PM
Sandy, The pansies are perfect and the background dynamite.
I saw this IRL and it is truely one of your finest Sandy. Looking forward to the updates
05-05-2005, 09:07 PM
Thanks Gail
Hi Jan thanks, it sure is lively, I hope I finish it before next year :D
Hi Sylvia thanks so much! I will go and resize it on the site to make it load faster, thanks for letting me know.
Elainepsq thanks, I will sure know how to do drops by the time I am finished. Funny thing is there are marks on the flowers and the paint is doing funny things. Not sure if it is the sizing or what but I am forced to put lots of drops because of it.
Hi Gary  Thanks, the colour chart has been an unbelievable lesson for me. I learned so much about glazing. I really suggest it to anyone who whats to learn about glazing colours. It is so easy now, all I have to do is look at that, pick the colour I need and glaze away. All the guess work is done.
Thanks so much Norah I hope you don't have to wait to long till I am finished but we know how long I take :D
05-05-2005, 09:12 PM
Sandy, I think, that the glazing chart and how you did it would be a valuable addition to the "handbook" .
05-05-2005, 09:31 PM
Hi Sandy... Will we get to see this in June??? I hope so... you colour is clean and crisp... I wish that pansies would grow all year because I do love them so... AND a full sheet, here... wow...
I agree with Gail about your glazing chart...
05-05-2005, 11:39 PM
Super Sandy! Love the colors...and your color chart on your site is amazing! The site did open slow, as already noted above, but worth the wait.
05-06-2005, 12:23 AM
Pulling up a chair here Sandy,,, :)
05-06-2005, 12:32 AM
Looking wonderful Sandy!!!
05-06-2005, 06:55 AM
it looks great yet.
I just finished my pansies-painting, so I know, what a lot of work it is.
Yours will be very beautiful.
05-06-2005, 08:25 AM
Wow! I love all the little details you get to see on your website, like the little ant and ladybug! You have the patience of a saint!!
Are you going to show us this technique in June? I can't wait!
05-06-2005, 08:42 AM
Hi Patti  Thanks so much. As for showing how I do this well it took me 6 hours to do the white pansy with the purple center, I am afraid everyone would fall asleep. I am not sure what I will be doing in June yet.
Thank you Doris, you are right about how much work these are, I never imagined a pansy would be so hard to paint. I am sure I will have the hang of it by the time I am finished.
 Uschi thanks for taking a peek.
 JJ so glad you could make it. :D
Thank you Strider. :)
Hi CharM  I hope to have this finished and I will bring it in June.
 Gail I am in the process of making it into a CD book on colours and glazing. And I am thinking of having prints made of the chart.
05-06-2005, 11:38 AM
ANOTHER lovely floral Sandy! I've found pansies hard to paint but you make it look easy. :wink2:
05-06-2005, 11:44 AM
your work takes my breath away!!!
patiently waiting for an update :)
05-06-2005, 12:25 PM
Great start I usually pass on flowers but always check yours out and I am never disapointed.
05-06-2005, 12:49 PM
Alan thanks that means alot to me :)
Hi Em thanks for the complement!
Hi Olliewood thank you for your comment. You are right, they are not easy to paint and I have to say I am struggling. I hope in the end it doesn't show and become overworked. Which I am very good at doing. :p
Here is an update for today. Worked on the front purple pansy, still a ways to go, worked some more on the orange ones in the back. They are pretty much done. I want less detail so they appear to be in the background.
05-06-2005, 01:09 PM
Absolutely gorgeous, as always, Sandy!
Love your WIP's! It's so amazing how your paintings seem to really come to life!
05-06-2005, 01:45 PM

Oh I get so nervous at this stage and I usally stop because I am so afraid to ruin it.  :D
Thanks Sandra,Pampe and Fairy for you wonderful comments.
 Nick Thanks so much. I know some people don't like the bugs but I can't help myself.
There are two lady bugs as well. They are very hidden as the picture is so busy.
06-10-2005, 03:00 PM
I forced myself to paint today. Here is an update.
06-10-2005, 03:39 PM
Another stunner! I have a commission to do a small pansy picture, but I shall hide it in shame after seeing yours.
06-10-2005, 03:57 PM
Hi Sandy... I hope you're feeling better... ((()))
This will be a stunning painting when you've finished it... Your meticulous attention to detail keeps me looking around for all your interesting elements... Your water drops are just perfect.... AND...
I LOVE YOUR BUGS!!!

06-10-2005, 05:03 PM
So good to see you painting again. Thanks for the update on your pansies.
Your flowers are exquisite, but I am really fascinated by the spaces between the blossoms. Wonderful negative painting on the stems and leaves.
06-10-2005, 05:42 PM
Sandy this painting is so good, it's well worth waiting for updates! The 3 dimensional appearance is already there, it's reminding me of decoupage almost!
06-10-2005, 06:44 PM
This is absolutely fantastic, Sandy. Can't wait to see the end result. It must look marvellous IRL.
06-10-2005, 09:53 PM
I love watching this emerge from the paper, as if it is all there just waiting to come out and show itself. I greatly admire your work.
06-10-2005, 09:57 PM
Sandy your skills are truly amazing. The color and the drawing both are so amazingly crisp! I'm glad to see you back again!

Rushing today, thus my use of Quick Replay. Just wanted to say, "Wow, what a great start!" I would not presume to make any corrections. Keep painting and bring us the finished product, please.
06-11-2005, 05:21 PM

06-29-2005, 04:50 AM
I love the little face on the purple and white flower. This is so fascinating to watch each flower emerge in its finished state.
Loving this thread. I am going to give it a rating (if I haven't already). LOL!
06-29-2005, 01:02 PM
I am still following along and still thoroughly impressed with your "sticktoitiveness" :D
07-02-2005, 08:18 AM
Thanks so much Uschi for your comments and words of encouragement.
Hi Sylvia, thanks so much for the rating and comments. Here is another purple flower for you.
Hi Em, "sticktoitiveness" I like that word, I think I am doing something simple for the next painting, a red dot on a white background. :p :D
07-02-2005, 08:30 AM
Hi Sandy... you definitely are the master of sticktoitiveness!!! Your glazing technique has created amazing depth of colour in every one of your elements... the petals, the leaves and all those dew drops!
07-02-2005, 09:02 AM
Wow! this is wonderful, Sandy! Love those dewdrops.
A real tour de force!

Sandy its yummy......
12-15-2005, 01:22 PM
Sandy, you have a wonderful ability to render and a great sense of color and design. I visited your site and was dazzled by the various paintings there. You have more patience than I and your paintings attest to your ability to observe. I love your studio! it is so clean and organized. If you could see mine you might think it looks like an explosion in a watercolor book factory! Looking forward to seeing the piece progress. Donald O'Roark.
12-15-2005, 02:21 PM
Hi Alan thanks:wave:
Hi Donald thank you very much for you kind words, and my studio doesn't always look like that. You should see it after the kids classes are over on Saturdays. I am glad you enjoyed the site as well.
12-15-2005, 02:23 PM

Thanks so much and yes I am from Barrie. Small world. I would love to get the chance to see your art in real life.
12-24-2005, 09:11 PM
Sandy: This is SO FANTASTIC!! I'm glad you cam back to show us. I love your color chart. My mom has one like that and I cannot figure out how to do it to save my life. Maybe a class on that in the Watercolor Guide??

Sandy, I'm not big on floral art but I have to commend you on superb control of the medium. Those drops of water and the greens in the foliage are to die for.

Sandy- beautiful job!
01-31-2006, 02:59 PM

01-31-2006, 04:27 PM
Seems a bit late, Sandy, but I'd better move this to the Studio as it's a WIP. I'll leave a link in the Gallery.
It is coming along very nicely.
01-31-2006, 06:02 PM
Wow, this is amazing! Your technique is so clean and fresh it's like the flowers are continuously blooming. The dew drops are incredible. It is fun watching someone, with so much talent, create!!
01-31-2006, 06:46 PM
Thanks Doug: If there was a prize for the painting that took the longest to paint I am sure I would win it with this one. :o :)
Hi Marc thank you so much for your comment, I just wish my technique didn't take so long
01-31-2006, 09:16 PM

02-01-2006, 01:28 PM
:D Doug , I am thinking of doing these next, hope everyone has another year or two.
02-01-2006, 05:27 PM
I love the large veiws you have on your site, I hope you arent planning to do away with those. They really show how truly detailed and wonderful your paintings are. I am curious about your color chart, I am interested in making one of my own, also I was curious about the brand of paints that you use. I wish you were closer so that I could take a class. =)
06-14-2006, 12:52 PM
I know what your thinking, is she ever going to finish. :o
I have had two days to paint and here is what I got done.
