Hi guys,

I finally go around to uploading the paintings I did trying to mimic the woodcut strokes with my brush strokes. You may recognize the portraits as I have used the images in my famous rabbi series. Here are the first two.

I also posted these in the oil painting forum. I have three more I haven't uploaded yet. Is it appropriate to post them here since they are also based upon prints? Otherwise I'll just point it out when I post them in the oil forum so those who want to see them can.

Please let me know if you think I was somewhat successful in trying to mimic a woodcut.

Thanks
Ari

You have certainly captured the look of your original woodcuts with these

Great work. I especially like the color in the first one.

Thanks Andrew. Do you think it is ok to post this kind of image here since it is not a print?

Interesting, Ari... and also interesting that of the two I prefer the second. It has a rhythm that I like...

I agree Diane. The second is my favorite painting of the series. There are 5 altogether.

I like the color in the first, but the second is my favorite by far. You did a great job capturing the cut look.

Thanks Charrissa. It was fun to try to paint like a woodcut. Challenging but fun. I think the results were pretty successful.
