Title: Bloom Time
Project Leader: jennyjenn
Relative Difficulty: Irrelevant
Type Restrictions: Painting
Medium: Watercolor paints
Subject: Floral
Days open for signups: 90
Maximum participants allowed: Unlimited

Description:

Spring is in the air again, and flowers are beginning to burst forth again.

So let's see your paintings of this wonderful time of the year. It is time to capture that favorite flower, field of wild flowers or mass of blossoms, a basket overflowing with flowers or even a single petal - just let the colors explode on your paper!

Additional Information:

For more information on the project: Click here! (http://www.wetcanvas.com//Community/Projects/index.php?cmd=view_details&proj_id=856)

Remember, in order to help keep the discussions on projects organized, you should post your questions, suggestions, and comments on submitted work here in this thread. By doing this, we allow other non-project efforts to not get "pushed down" by a swarm of project-related threads.

Jenn - I have asked for this project to be moved to "Watercolor Projects" it isn't showing in the list of watercolor projects. In addition, several of the sample images have %s characters in their filenames and are showing as X's.

Another nice one...the colours used to create this white rose would be the colours you use for the shadowing between petals, leaving the white of the paper being the rose.

I absolutely love this one, the composition is wonderful and the way you let the water take contol of this painting is georgous. You have a 'Linda Kemp' technique. If you don't know who Linda Kemp is...please visit her website at

A field of wild flowers is such a beautiful site to capture, you have done a great job. Have you tried splattering various colours on wet paper? Then giving the paper random sprinkles of water to create a misty look? Once the paper is dry you can go in with a deeper and cleaner paint to create details from what has come out of the wet on wet splatter effect. It can be daring but fun to experiment with. (A Nita Engles technique that is absolutely fun and the end results are exquisite)

Never saw the web site but I've read her book ages ago. I'm more of a realtistic painter. The 'Michigan Cherries' painting is only 4x6, I paint cards wet-in-wet because its quicker and the cards have to sale for a low price, thus not worth spending lots of time on them.

I just tried to enter an entry into this project and when I looked at the final entries list my contributions shows up with a little red "x". What am I doing wrong??

paintchristina
05-31-2005, 06:59 PM
Same with my entry. The thumbnail appears as a red x. But the larger image appears to be OK. The thumbnail is supposed to be automatically generated, so maybe we need to send a help request to the technicians.

Thanks. I'm thinking on framing it but haven't really decided if I should just yet. I think it would cost quite a bit as it is rather large.
