this is done on stonehenge paper with prismacolor colored pencils. size is: 12"h x 11"w
the greens aren't quite so acid and the yellows aren't quite so dark or bright in RL...but to get the pinks and gray's in the scan, I had to sacrifice the greens and yellows.

Arlene...this is beautiful!!!! It looks like I could just FEEL the softness of the petals if I reached out and touched it!

WOW!
You can just feel the softness by looking at it, oops someone else already said that. Sure doesn't hurt to repeat it, very lovely.

Sam, Tammy, ZZ and DJ,
thank you...I love working in colored pencils and have always loved flowers.
This one was taken from a photo that Miss Mouse allowed me to use. I cropped the photo and then deepened the shadows from the original to give it more depth.
It is not enough to copy a photo, but to interpret...to eliminate and add to it to make it your own.

This is very well done, arlene. I especially like the shadows within the petals. You have a nice color range here. I would love to see the origninal.

Thank you Sassy and GSB...
sassy, I'm particularly grateful that you noticed all the colors used to make the "white" tulip...it's always hard to remember that nothing in Real Life is just "white"

You got it. Composition, rendering and modulation of color could not be improved on IMHO.
I'll second that comment on the wonderful "whites" here. It's really hard to make white petals like this "read" properly... luminosity, reflected light and color, shading them so they fall in space correctly... these are perfect.
I feel I would get pollen dust on my fingers if I touched this.

this is AWESOME! I say sell prints! I want one! I LOVE the softness of the piece, and I am not for stillifes.....but this captivates me! The co.ors convey a meed....I look at it and get lost in it, it conveys a sheer sense of relaxation! GREAT WORK!
