Hi Arteology
Thanks for responding.
What do you like most about the Sante Fe 11?
Looks like a beauty. In the reaseaching I've done nothing compares to the Best line in terms of craftmanship and beauty. And the fact that they are NOT made from endangered woods.
It's that self-leveling front tray that appeals to me on the SF. How large is it?
I'm surprised that they would make a top of the line easle like the Abiquiu without that feature. I'm glad to know.
Yours is the SF 11 version - curious if it's both the casters and the winch system that appeals to you (and why two?)

Thanks much, Terri

PS. I'm coming out to Taos and Santa Fe at the end of Oct or first week in Nov. What's the avg. temp for you then?

Terri,
The Santa Fe II easel is a perfect "fit" for me...I usually paint rather large 54 X 64". It is both the wench system and the convenient casters that make me such a fan. The tray (yes it can be leveled by hand) is about 6" deep and about 2 1/2' long on my older easel and on the new one I just got it has been improved and enlarged to about 4' long. Making the tray longer helps in lowering the canvas even farther than the older version. As for the question of why two...easy, I like to paint on more than one canvas at a time because I work in series.
The weather in SF around the end of Oct. can be a bit iffy. For sure it will be chilly at night and probably sunny during the day. We have had snow as early as mid October (16"!) but usually not much until later in November. Right now temps are 70 days - 50 nights, so by then it probably will be 50 days - 30 nights. It is a beautiful city!
