Here's another, painted a week later in another house!! I don't seem to have used that style again!!

This one has more of a sense of light. You could make that even stronger if you wished by darkening the darkest areas.

Nice!

Jaytee, very nice composition and I like your colour control. I am surprised that anyone likes using 'gouache', most of the people here have said that they thought it was hard to work with. Glad to know that there is a gouache fan in the forum.

Cindy

thanks for comments on this and the other piece.......... you're right about the darks here. just returned to the original and see they are darker.... also noticed that the scan has lost a lot of the warms................ the sofa arm is quite peach coloured aginst the cushion here, for example, and the wall behind the plant has a warmer tone.

I will have to investigate how to get a truer colour rendering............. have been playing, and this is a bit better......... but now the lights are not light enough!

Edited this because it loked exactly the same on my monitor !!!!

Javier. thanks..........you posted while I played! Ah, the great gouache debate:evil: I'm back to watercolours at the moment trying to master them and my fear of them!! Maybe one day I'll use both, either separately or (I know you'll hate this!!) together.

I used gouache in an "oil painting" style for about a year before I went to oils.

MKathleen has some amazing gouache work at her site. :D

I like it very much!Very nice, it seems that this corner of the room is washed in the soft light.

I have a friend who loves gouache, but her works are bursting with colors so gouache in my mind is always:COLORS!:D

I'm a big fan of interior paintings and you have done a fine job capturing this one. So glad you shared it with us.

I would sure love to settle into that sofa right now!! This painting has a very comfortable, homey feel. Very nice. Only suggestion for the future--be careful about objects just touching each other the way the sofa touches the lamp. It would be better if there was more overlap or a bit of space between them. Nice to see you adding your work to this forum.

Actually if I did Paint, gouache would be my medium of choice. I used it for 22 years as a textile and wallpaper designer. But I DON'T PAINT!!!

Thank you all very much for your kind words................. you're making me wonder whether I should have been in such a hurry to get back to watercolour:) time will tell!

Phyllis. ............very good point. I shall try to watch out for that in future. made the same mistake in a watercolour posted on that forum.

MKathleen..............really enjoyed your paintings on your site. thanks Cagathoc for pointing me there
