While surfing for artists equipment, I finally went to a camping equip. site to look for the kind of stool I want for plein aire painting.... ended up at: www.rei.com (http://www.rei.com)
There, I found a 2lb stool, that folds up to
23 x 4 x 4 inches .. (YES) ... with a 350 degree swivel action and adjustable legs for un-even ground.
Price is $19.00 - Wanted to pass that along to anyone else who may be looking. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif Carol

Thanks, Carol. There is an REI here in Atlanta and I get over there every now and then....will take a look for that stool. The one I use now is adequate..it is by Coleman and made of aluminum...so it weighs less than a pound which is what I like. Also it has a canvas back and canvas seat. When you're working plein air..a comfortable seat is nice when you want to rest...or the easel just won't stay in place!

I haven't tried it for painting yet, but I had bought my mother a cane that opens out into a little stool to rest on. I plan to use it for plein aire painting. Saw the same type cane (after I had to order from Medical Supply)at Academy Sports store recently. No back, but it is very light and cane be used as a walking stick too.
