Hi,
I'm looking for someone in the Renton, Washington area that wants to meeting every other week for art adventures. I would like to go to different places in the greater Seattle area, paint and sketch and maybe have lunch. I usually go alone, and it gets a little lonely (not to mention scary sometimes). Let's talk!

Hi Tspoon! I'm in Shoreline; the other end of the lake from you, but not all that far. I wouldn't mind getting together for some sketching; I'm a beginner at watercolors and would like to try some plein air some time. If you (or anyone) are interested PM me some time!

I'm game too! Sonya -- I grew up in the Shoreline area. I'm in Marysville now, but that's just a hop & a skip. We could all meet somewhere in the middle for a plein air session one "balmy" (hah) spring weekend day? Or now that daylight savings time is almost here, on a weekday evening? I've never done it but it sounds very fun. Let's talk!

I sure hope we get some nice weather soon - yes, let's keep in touch here and when a halfway decent weekend occurs, I'm ready!

T & S -- Looks like sunny and 70° this weekend -- :) April Fool's! All I see is rain/showers/more rain in the extended forecast (well, I guess we need it). Although it looks like both of you work in watercolors, so you might get some interesting effects by working outside! :) Maybe all paintings are considered watercolor if created in the rain? Keep in touch, one of these days we're bound to dry out.

I'm way down in Olympia BUT if you guys ever get down this way I'd love to meet up and do some serious sketching (after we chat and have coffee and all that other stuff us girls do (gosh, hope everyone is a female and likes that kind of stuff!!))

Hi Valri,
I'll bet there are some beautiful parks in Olympia (embarrassed to say I've not been there)! Not to mention some good coffee shops?! Let's all cross our fingers for some nice weekend weather soon.

Sonya, Lanita and Valri!
Well, the weather is definitely improving! But, it changes every five minutes....I am still anxiously hoping for a regularly scheduled get-out-and-paint-day.
What do the rest of you have in mind?
Maybe we should all meet at the same time and talk about it first?
Anybody have any suggestions?

You're right - this weekend it was supposed to rain, but it was actually sunny on Saturday; same today - supposed to rain, and it's sunny right now (though it did rain a bit earlier).
Does everyone want to get together and maybe just meet for coffee this coming weekend? We could say hello, and formulate a plan for coming get-togethers. Suggestions as to where? Would downtown Seatttle be in between all of us? Would it be a pain to park? Or maybe around Greenlake? Just throwing things out here; I'm up for just about anything! :)

Hi Tspoon, Sonya, Valri!
Sounds like a good idea to get together and make a plan. I've lived out of the city for so long that I'm not that familiar with what's around Greenlake, except for the big Starbucks at the northeast corner, kittycorner from Albertson's. Does that sound OK? If someone has a suggestion where parking might be easier I'm open. Shall we take a vote on which weekend day? I'm open either day, preferably early-ish, say 9-9:30 (or even earlier if anyone else is game). Looking forward to hearing from y'all -- excited to meet you!

That sounds good to me - I know what Starbucks you're talking about. 9 or so is fine, any earlier and I'd have to come in my pyjamas. :)
Either day is good; if anyone else has a preference I'll go with that!

Lanita, I just looked at your profile and saw that you're a typesetter! That's a fun coincidence - I've been in typesetting and prepress in WA since the late 80s - wonder if we've ever met? We'll have to compare notes this weekend!!

Sonya--
LOL! Have you been proofing my messages for typos? -- It's the typesetter's curse. I'm in digi pre-press at a printing company in downtown Seattle. In May I will have been here for 20 years. Yikes!
Do you think that particular Starbucks might be too crowded on a weekend morning? I know I'm the one who suggested it -- and it would be fine I'm sure -- but I'd almost rather find some little cafe that's not "quite" so popular (and have breakfast?). If anyone has any other ideas -- toss 'em out there!

You might be right about SBUX - I googled coffee in the Greenlake area and this place looks cool - what do you think?

And, yes, I always notice typos, but I know I make plenty myself so I'd never say anything! :) I work in the prepress group at - I'm almost embarrassed to say now - a (ahem) Big Coffee Company. But I'm no coffee snob!

That coffeeshop looks perfect to me, and 9am is great too. Terry? Valri? What do y'all think? PM me if you'd like.

Saturday or Sunday, did we decide?

I'll go along with the popular vote -- either day is OK by me.

Lanita, Sonya-
Hi! I'd love to meet you all there! Saturday doesn't work for me tho.
Can we make it Sunday?
Valri, are you out there?

Terry, Sunday would be great! I'll bring a sketchpad "just in case" it's not pouring. Valri! Are you up for a little Sunday drive? Sonya, are you in?

Okey, dokie! Count me in, Sunday at 9am. I'll be bringing my sketch pad, too! I'm up for a walk around the lake, if the weather allows.
Boy, it's a beautiful day today! Let's hope it's holds up!
