well I thought that I would visit with a painting that I did today. It is rather a raw looking painting. However I think that may be part of it's appeal. Any suggestions?:) mjkohler

Hi MJ, It doesn't look too raw to me . Pretty cool, nice job. The red at the bottom makes it.

I like it. Good color combo; lots of movement.

Acrylics? What size?

And where is Golden Bay?

:) gee thanks for your positive feed back. I may just put it in the garage so that I dont touch it and start something else for awhile, as this morning when i saw it in the cold light of day it didn't seem to balance to well.

It is done in oils. approx 3 feet x 2 1/2 feet.

Golden Bay is one of the most incredible beautiful, gentle and healing areas of New Zealand. Some of the Lord of The Rings was shot in the bush here. (not the snow parts). My site melindakohler.com will show you some shots of it if you click on the virtual bay logo.

Hi MJ: I really enjoy the action of your mark-making. I agree about the red at the bottom...it gives the rest an anchor. Keep up the good work.

Hi:

I really like this the color is terrific. My only recommendation would be I'd like to see a little of the blue-green in either the upper or lower right side of your painting. What do you think?

Best,
Kathy :)

:) Thank you for your comment mkathleen. I will look at this painting over the next day or so. I must admit that it has grown on me a little. However I do feel that it needs tonal adjustment in places to give it some depth. I will keep in mind your recommendation while I work on it. mjk
