I have been married for over 11 years, and my mother-in-law used to paint in oils but quit shortly before I married her son. I have been waiting for a long time to see her pick up a paint brush again......but I wanted to share with all of you a couple of pieces that she has done in the past......the first is an inexpensive print she made from a slide she had......(the original was sold)...I don't know how much the color has been altered, but I still think she did a great job! And the second was a 'doodle' with markers or something that she did a few years back.....Enjoy!

That's what I think! Try telling her that! Maybe if I can round up enough responses from you folks here at Wet Canvas, maybe that will encourage her!!!!!:D
Thanks Wendee,
Sincerely,
Samantha

Please tell your mother in law to pick up her brush again!!! She should be painting and drawing again for the sheer joy of it!!
She has talent.

Wow! These are wonderful!
I can't believe that someone who so obviously put their heart into work like this can suddenly put down their brushes and not look back... Was there an event or happening that made her feel this way? Is there perhaps something she's not telling you about the way she feels regarding this?
There must be a very big part of her soul that still wants to paint, I can see it here in her work. She mustn't turn her back on this gift any longer! I demand that you pester her endlessly about it!!! :D

I am the contrary...
Instead of pushing her to pick up her art...ask her what made her stop using her wonderful talent.

I can't stop looking at the first print.
Your mother-in-law has much to share.
Would you consider trading mother-in-laws!?!?!
I'll throw in a future draft pick!

Victoria? Can you hear me? Good... I'm asking nicely, O.K.? Please do more, please...?
Thank you, I can't even fathom a reason that would make you stop, but if you had your reasons, I do understand, I hope that the reason has changed... Welcome to the most fun ride you'll ever have! Your work is so beautiful! Really...

I just LOVE them both. The oil painting has such an ethereal quality. I'm so glad you talked her into joining. And it's nice to hear that you have a good relationship with her too. :)
Warmest,
Laura
