What fun - that is, after I finally made a choice. Any one of these photos would have been a great reference. The water in this finally made the difference to me. This is watercolor, 7.5" x 10", about 1 1/2 hours.

Wow, Connie, I think this is one of your best yet! And your painting is so clear I can see why other renderings had trouble with the mouth -- that white bit in the background, so close to his jaw. (Now is that his paw, staking his claim to the land as well as the water?) That water is great, and he looks as if he's finding it very soothing.

Great work on the tiger, Connie. He looks so at home in the water and your painting glows with the warmth of the sunny day I remember.

After seeing 2 other versions last night (Velda and Mbeckett) I know I would not be satisfied until I did this over. Actually, I didn't change anything, just intensified all the colors. Too much would have looked like a circus poster, but this is just short of that, I think.

WOW Connie, what a great job! I saw it last night and didn't comment as I was just too tired and it was too late. But thought then what a beautiful job you did. But this morning I scrolled down before I commented (which I normally don't do before I comment) and saw you had darkened. Wowser, as Kate would say, you have created a huge amount of punch in this. It is just brilliant. You should be so very pleased

Connie, I have seen your work really develop in the time I've been doing these WDEs! In both paintings you handled the water beautifully  I can see the transparency of the water, in as much as a little of the tiger color comes thru the water.
the stronger use of color in the second painting is nice, but I think I would tone down the background a little. (perhaps wet it and blot it a little) You've done such a beautiful job with the tiger, I don't want to see the background compete for our attention! Well Done!

Connie!!! Wow!! I hope this doesn't sound condescending...but you make me proud to see the great improvements you've made in your watercolors, especially when you weren't afraid to go in and punch it up a notch!
Elaine has a point about the background, but other than that this is topnotch work from you!!!    Xlots

One beautiful tiger Connie, no matter which version I am looking at :)
I like the way you made very clear that it is his paw just under his head.
