After reading Sassy's lesson on relief printing, I thought I'd share one of mine...
7 x 11 linocut

This is great, Gisela. I like the linework you achieved especially in the sky. Linoleum is so much fun to work with. If you start another piece try a reduction print in more than one color. I have an example of one I'll post.

I haven't tried any mutli-color reduction stuff yet -- I'm still a little fuzzy on the whole planning process for that.
Have you tried that Speedball soft rubber stuff? It's about 1/2 inch thick and you can cut both sides. It's really easy to cut and it prints very smooth.

Hi Gisela :)
I really like the look of this piece.
This is going to be a great forum :)

I really like your rendering of the architecture here
the strength in their blocking, the leaning angles
and the patterns of the windows and cuts
create a nice rythmic composition
I've tried two different kinds of the softer 'stuff' to cut. I don't recommend cutting both sides especially on larger pieces as it has trouble holding together after a while (unless you cut really shallow I suppose). The handling of the medium is quite nice in my opinion as I can use my lino carving tools plus an exacto knife too. I'll post some that I've done on the speedycut stuff.
