This is my forst attempt at tole painting I have prepared two trays and have patterns traced onto tracing paper..I used chalk to trace pattern onto tray and found a chalky, dusty mess.
suggestions please..i am going to use acrylic. I am also new to this medium.

I tole painted years ago..but always used dress makers tracing paper. But I was using oil paints, not acrylics. Don't know how it would work with acrylics. Give it a go..and see if it works for you.

The best way I have found is to use transfer paper, available at tole or art supply shops. I mainly use dark grey or black, and white, depending on the background colour. Remove unwanted lines with a kneadable eraser.

thank you both for your interest..I am having so much fun with this..I could certainly improve my brush work but think I'll forgive myself for any errors and just plod on..the transfer paper worked fine.
