Per your inquiry about the Munsell 10 value color system, here is a color wheel that I created based on that system:

To obtain the Analogous Color Wheel by Hal Reed 818-884-6278 Po Box 941 Woodland Hills, CA 91365 It's about $20.00 and worth it! This is the only one I reccommend.

Dear Verdaccio and Terry,
Thank you so much for sharing your color wheels! The arrangement I have been taught is linear with greys 10-0 at top, then rows of colors below with corresponding values... This is most helpful on a working palette - much like keys on a church organ!

Jeanine, did you ever find the linear Munsell format you were looking for? I'd be interested in seeing one, too!

I have not found any publication yet... A web search under "Albert Munsell" did produce many biographic references, and
technical tutorials... But we are talking about a simple artist's tool... I have created a rough one from art class... Not in "presentable" form! lol...

Munsell wrote a book back in the 50s(?) called "A Grammar of Color". It was published by Van Nostrand Reinhold, New York. Actually, here are all of the book references to Munsell that I could find:

[Mun05] A. H. Munsell. A Color Notation. Munsell Color Company, Boston, MA, 1905.

[Mun69] A. H. Munsell. A Grammar of Color. Van Nostrand Reinhold Company, New York: NY, l969.

[Mun76] Munsell Color Company. The Munsell Book of Color. Munsell Color Company, 2441 North Calvert Street, Baltimore, MD 21218, 1976. Under continuous update.

Here is what the book actually looks like:
http://www.ewolfs.com/past_auctions/mar_books01/88.html

This place seems to have one for sale at $10.00 - look down toward the bottom of the page: http://www.needlearts.com/RKBooks/color/Page1.htm

And Barnes and Noble has 6 copies for sale here: http://shop.barnesandnoble.com/OopBooks/oopResultsTitle.asp?userid=2NKFCYMSMZ&mscssid=79FCW6RAH6U19M387EU10JXSB25CAAB3&title=A+Grammar+of+Color&keyword=Munsell&rstart=1&WID=1585561

Hope that helps! http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hal Reed has one too? I've loved his style, his colors for forever now! I didn't know he had his own color wheel. Thanks Terry!

Jeanine. . .

Did you find the info you wanted on Munsell? One book that explains Munsell's system is "Exploring Color" by Nita Leland.

In reading the book," Harley Brown's eternal truths for every artist", I found that he expands on the Munsell system. It's well worth understanding, this is for sure.

Thanks Jerry and Ilis... I shall explore both publications...
