View Full Version : Sunday Afternoon

I started this painting last night when my wife decided to watch American Idol.
This initial coat was done quickly to get the shapes and depth I was looking for, but I plan to move towrd more realistic colors over the tops of the various shades.
Any suggestions or comments as I move forward?
It is on a supported 40"x30" cnavas using acrylic with a slow drying medium added to more simulate oils.
Thank you in advance!

 Think this is going to be something good. Full of the joy of living. The little girl's arm on the left looks detached to me. I think the top half of the arm is too thin in proportion to the elbow to hand section, and the wrist too thick. Keep going. Looking forward to the end result. Chammi.

It bothers me a little that the girls are running straight into a hedge. Would the composition perhaps be more inviting if there were a path ahead? Also, are the girls intended to be twins? If not, you may want to differentiate them somehow. Just a couple ideas....

Hey Todd - you sure had the more productive evening. I had the same thoughts as Chammi and Laynec even before I read their posts. I wasn't thinking a path but rather some break in the hedge or perhaps a garden gate where that darker value is. I love your brush work.
