The picture of my oldest daughter that I'm working off of is small, but now after cropping and enlarging, I see even more areas to work on. Your help will be very much appreciated along the way. This is only a quick beginning as you'll see. Thanks for any critiques!

I've changed parts of the face, but haven't darkened or worked on the hair yet. Any suggestions so far?

I'm sure she will be thrilled with it.

Her hairline looks squarer in the photo than the way you've drawn it, but that doesn't detract from the likeness, and perhaps you need some more shading on the left hand side if you want to match the photo, but if you left it as it is now it would still be a great portrait!

Hi, jonifaye.

This is getting good! If I may make a few suggestions? In the photo, her mouth ends just below the iris in both eyes. However, in your drawing, the mouth is much wider. When you diminish the size of the mouth, you'll also need to darken the corners to give that feeling of roundness to the face.

Also, the lips need a bit of work. Darker on top, darker toward the corners and toward the inside of the mouth and as the lip turns into the chin.

Don't forget the shading under the chin.

And don't forget the shading as the outside of the eyes turn into the sides of her head. All of that shading tells us that this is a real human bean. :wink2:

Very good likeness! Keep working on it, it keeps getting better!

Thank you both very much for the suggestions. I see your points and have altered the picture, but it doesn't seem done to me yet. I'll see something new to change...and/or more suggestions will be eagerly read. Here's where it's at for now:
