Miniature..of Csar Nicholas II cup. Miniature 2"x3". Acrylics. I found this cup at a flea market and set up a still life with violets to paint. C&C.http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/13-Feb-2005/28168-Csar_final!.jpg

Another great little Mini Bertoni.
Your Mini Gallery is growing quite rapidly, and your frames all being very similar would set it off beautifully.

 Val: Glad you like it!
I have around 19 in the mini gallery right now! Had sold 3 and gave 2 as gifts...so I guess I've painted around 30 all together including a couple of minis put away in a drawer! It's been fun, but gotta get back to doing some larger paintings or I might forget how!!! :)

Very cool, Bertoni. Flea markets are so great for still life acquisitions, aren't they? You've got quite a gallery happening. Perhaps a small local gift shop would love to sell your minis!

That's an idea re: gift shops!! I have about 20 of these framed minis on tap right now. Gotta get back to my larger ptgs! I'm totally hooked on minis though!!! I've contracted the rare ailment..." minnyitis"!! :D
Am planning on getting some racks and bringing minis to a show next September!

Its adorable Bertoni, I like it alot. I wonder if you do get rusty on the bigger ones, my last two 12 x 16 plein airs are awful! Lori

Hi Lori:
I reframed the painting with a mat this time. The small frame didn't allow the painting to live and breathe! You know what I mean? Glad you liked it.
I've been painting minis for several weeks now and am just now trying to get back to my larger stuff. I find it hard to do because I've become
so darn "mini-brained" ha, ha LOL! :D

Yes, I noticed the flowers were touching the frame edge, it would look much better with the mat. It seems like its easier to have edge kissing with minis. Lori

Hi Lori:
What a revelation!...I think I'm going to have to be using mats in framing more of my miniatures!!! Some minis work well without matting, but with others like this one you really need a mat !!!!

I like this much better with the mat. :D I am finding the same thing, that the minis can be too cramped in a small frame with no mat.

Bertoni, thank you for showing us your framing alternative. I too like it with the mat. Perhaps it also has to do with how closely cropped the still life is.
It's been four days and we haven't seen a new mini from you yet. Where's that antique vase you promised? :p C'mon, Bertoni, we need our fix!

I really like the matting too. This is a very nice pot of flowers. Maybe I should try flowers again. :)
