Susan, this is one of my fav of yours.
So beautiful and soft. Amazing work with a knife

Beautifully serene. Beautiful palette.

Nitpicking, but I lose the sense of the water level around and under the dock a bit. Some of the reflections of the posts read a little too much like more of the post.

I like this composition - and of course, the palette.

you are on a roll! beautifully painted..i'm confused about the yellow area underneath where the dock meets the land. it's a focal point, but i can't quite put a finger on what i'm looking at. that's a nit, it is a beautiful painting.

Great choice of subject and use of colour. I am inclined to agree with TScottDove's comment regarding the reflections, but its a minor point and the painting as a whole is a very striking example of knife painting.

Perhaps we should have a knife painting forum here on WetCanvas?! :p

It's the temperature of the colors that is so seducing that I'd almost forget to look for items to comment on.

You have the skill of a surgeon with your palette knife. I especially like the composition of the piece... leads the eye very well.

Orange and blue are my favorite complementaries, but only if they're both muted and soft as they are here.

The area noted by others as ambiguous looks to me like a big grass or something; it seems it could be made darker or more textured to distinguish it from the rest.

I love the visual texture, I can almost feel the sand, it looks soft and moist. Beautiful.

A beautiful palette used here, Sue.

I'd enjoy seeing more activity(perhaps just a few clouds,..or suggestions of them) in the sky..............

As always, masterful and beautiful. Best Wishes,-Scott

Thanks for the comments and great suggestions from you all!
The ambiguous yellow area is a clump of that weedy grassy stuff. Was trying to get the feeling of the atmosphere of late afternoon in the fall. The colors are so awesome at that time of year at the beach. :)

Susan,

What a treat! The palette and composition are exquisite. My only nit has already been addressed by another - the yellowy weeds/reeds seem a tad too indistinct. A very successful knife painting though! You have a unique style to your work and I always enjoy opening up one of your threads.

Cheers,
Nicole
