Portrait artists, you absolutely must stop in on the Art Business Forum and check out the thread titled "Student Scholarships Painting & Sculpture/Realism". I had ignored it for days because I thought it was for high school scholarships. Oh boy is it more than that. In the first post take the link for ARC. I have never seen works of art so beautiful before! It is probably the most humbling and inspiring experience I have ever had - I think you will feel the same!

Here is an example of what you will find on the ARC link. I choose the one closest to 500 pixel in width but couldn't bear to reduce it because the details would be lost. Just take the link to see more. I especially recommend looking at William Bouguereau's work - this painting is his. Within the thread you will discover schools that teach this classic method of oil painting.
Sorry to be a spoil-sport but I have reduced the size of this image to 500 pixels (it was exactly double that). If anyone would like to see the original perhaps they could follow the link Tammy is recommending. Thanks. sandra

After seeing "the Impressionists" on A&E, I feel amused that this style of art which was the commercial variety is what all the rebellion was against.
How easier life is with it and what hell it is to chase it down!

Oooooo Myyyyy.... This is stupendous! To be able to paint like this...... I'd have to have groceries delivered--I'd never come up for air http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif. On my way to the AB Forum...
Well, I'm back, my jaw was hanging open for an hour. And this was what the "rebellion" was all about??? as DJ said. I also read that speech, Good Art - Bad Art, and totally agree. Thank you Tammy!!! I'm going to spend hours there...

If you want a quicker hop to the ARC and bypass changing to the Art Business Forum take the link provided in this post. It will drop you into their site on the frst page of the museum (Alphabetical Artist directory for last names beginning with the letters A-C).
