MY COMMENTS:
A picture of the Atlantic coast of Ireland based on recollection and judicious theft from a photo in a tourist ad.

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
Of all the places Iíve been lucky enough to see the West of Ireland is without doubt the lovely. It is not as impressive as the High Rocky Mountains or the Alps, it may not be as picturesque as Tuscany, it may not be as green as the broad valleys of the American Midwest Ė but for just flat pleasant and comfortable it canít be beat. I hope a little bit of my affection for the place comes across in this piece.

pleasing to follow

Indeed; you've captured the calm beauty of it for sure. The linework in the fields is excellent and so indicative of an aerial view. It flows like a waterfall into the lower section for the eyes.

the long dark horizontal shadow shapes
the skintone vertical cliff shapes play lyrically together

i'm instantly drawn to the cliff face and the meadows - the simplicity of them work so well together

I'm also drawn to the cliffs. I especially like the reflections in the ocean. Great work seperating the fields and in the creation of distance. Nice piece.

Aside from the "theft" it looks well executed. (Ahhh... painter's block. I know her all too well.) :)

Hi Jim
beautiful work and colors applied
this must have taken a lot of time.
To nitpick, the backs of the cows are somewhat painted too rectangular and in that way line up with the diagonals of the landscape coming down

very nice. more illustrative and stylized than your other work in my opinion. i like the simplicity. nice job on the stone wall in shadow. very pleasing work. i also like how the cows echo the lines and shapes in the landscape. cliff shadows seems perhaps overly simplified, but perhaps that goes with the rest of the syle of this piece.

What if you'd added some of that magnificent purplish-blue in the foreground also ? That's why I like the top 2/3rd of the painting so much.

Hi Jim, I feel a very pleasant kind of nostalgia with this painting. I've never been to Ireland, it reminds me of those old railway posters. I hope you will take that comment favourably, because I used to like them.
