I posted this over in drawing too but since it is a portrait I thought it belonged over here too... it was a huge challenge for the boy as I have never done denim clothing nor metal buckles before....!!
I have included a close up of the buckles.

It is good to have an end to journey towards but in the end, all that matters is the Journey.

You did great! The denim and buckle are very convincing. I bet you had fun!

Really nice! And how did you take such sharp pics of your work? What camera etc. did you use? I'm about to buy a digital camera, thanks.

Paint light and dark masses, not edges. You can always draw edges around objects, later. Paint abstract shapes of color.
When painting onto a flat surface, think flat shapes of color. Don't try to paint around an object. We're not sculpting...think - "flat, flat, flat." - Christine LaFuente

WOW...Amazing! I know this sounds weird but I've always judged the best of foods in my taste by a literal "goosebump" response. Well...that was my reaction after this pic loaded. This scene is very, very precious. You've really done these kids justice. You can be extremely proud of this one!

goosebumps! Now THAT is a compliment I have never gotten before! COOL!
Mario, I used an Olympus 460 2.1 megapixel double zoom camera. (around 300 bucks) I LOVE IT! I rarely have to use the flash as it seems to grab all light even in the darkest of rooms.. very crisp and even images. I didn't do any manipulating in a photo program with this either.. whatcha see is whacha get.
Vell.. something..(can't remember your user id name??) I did this on 14 X 17 Bristol 2ply smooth (nary a "tooth" can be found on this surface!) using 5mm mechanical pencil with 2B and HB graphite lead.
I did the shading on the face with regular ole kleenex versus using my old tool of a tortillion. That kleenex makes the graphite just SHINE! It was my first time using that too and I will never go back!

Oh yes, very nice indeed! What did you do them in? Is it pencil, charcoal? And what surface? Great work! http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif
Mario: If you are looking for a camera recommendation, I can recommend the Olympus 3040. It is a 3.4 MP digital and it takes great pics! Around $560.
