You've done an excellent job capturing the expressions of these two little girls. This painting provides a strong message of the culture the girls are from. Nice work

Thank you, I appreciate that. These two girls make me "feel" what they are thinking/feeling. Thank you once again for your encouragement.

Ditto on Thumper's comments! I haven't tried darker skin tones. What are they like compared to the caucasion range?
Obviously an award winner... was the show experience a pleasant one. I have never entered one but will hopefully be experiencing my first in the next few weeks. I am sure there are lots of others who are curious about what shows are like as well. Could you share the ups and downs?

As far as the skin tones, I find it easier to work with darker colors than with the caucasion.... to which I tend to have some trouble with.... I want skin to look as realistic as possible (considering my lack of experience)... and sometimes I find my caucasion skin tones leaving me with the feeling of being pastey.. coated... do you understand what I'm trying to say?
The darker skin tones are more pleasing to me.. though I have had success with caucasion...
I entered this painting in a fair, third district livestock show... I had only been painting a little over a year when I entered this piece. I was really nervous about entering, before I entered this one, I entered a painting of a horse and won "best of show" for it. That is as far as I have branched out in the public viewing..... still a little shy...

Nice picture! The expressions are great and the children look very real. Most of my work is of caucasians with a few Asians, but the two African American girls I've painted were a lot of fun; it was so neat to be able to work with a whole new range of skin tones and the colors were so much richer. It felt like a real indulgence to be able to experiment with such lovely shades.

I agree with everyone's comments. Nice work. Very expressive!
