Well, I'm not sure about posting this, ex employees (not me, see below)always have issues so please do other checking around.

However, http://www.scad.info/ was written by an ex-instructor there as an expose of SCAD.

There is some "smoke" about SCAD.

1. There is a lot of crime in Savannah. You can check out various forums. A number of SCAD kids have been mugged or had their appartments vandalized. Savannah is not as charming as it may seem.

2. There are accrediting agencies for Interior design (FIDER) and for colleges of art and design ( I think NCAD,but don't quote me). SCAD is not accredited by either one to my knowledge! Moreover, there is some kind of lawsuit between FIDER and SCAD about accreditation. Check out the New law suit post on:http://www.scad.info/

3. SCAD was a "for profit" institution, which may have changed since last year. Thus, any left over money goes into the pocket of the owners. I am always suspicious of any institution that is "For Profit." Frankly, the only "for profit"art school that I would send my kids too and is highly rated is SVA in NY. Also, being a "for profit" institution reduces any contributions by donors since they won't get a tax deduction. Thus, very few contributions (other than by alumni) will be made. They may have changed since I looked at them a while ago. Thus, check out this fact.

4. As another post shows, there is some expose about SCAD published by a former professor. Normally, I would ignore these things as ramblings by a disgruntled employee, but he has submitted some good documention proving some of his allegations. Check out:http://www.scad.info/

Frankly, from what I can see, I would stay away from SCAD and choose RINGLING.

You have to do your own research on that one!

By the way, the orgainization that provides art programs with accreditation is the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). Their web site is:http://www.arts-accredit.org/intro.jsp

They used to allow you to search for accredited members, but now I think you need to pay $15 for online access or to get a book showing accreditation. Everything is free in America for a small fee in America.

1. Savannah is a city. Like any city it has crime. SCAD has an excellent bus system for students and its own security department.

2. Do not know about FIDER, but the graduate Interior Design Dept was rated among the top 5 in the country recently.

3. SCAD is non-profit.

4. The angry professor's wife was fired.

yeah, i wish paula wallace would choose to be "inspired' somewhere else. She's a boring, scrappy old bitch and i am not here to be used by her. jenny, Bill and melinda were needy, overbearing, full of ****, annoying, glad you're gone. jeff was obviously just sleazy and setting me up, and i don't know where the **** you get the term patti Smith fromn, considering you wouldn't have a career if it wasn't for me, but i wouldn't of given any of you the time of God dman day, so i hihgly recommend you remeber in your hearts, whor eally has the looks and talent, and paula, the fifty something tlaneltess kiss ass from hell, gets the **** out of my life
