I went to the local dog park and found this funny character - He finally sat down to rest and I was able to photograph him.
I have put it aside for a while to work on something else - still needs a little refinement. Input welcome

Nice work with rendering the sunlight and shadows! Cute dog (from your title I was expecting a wet, sloppy "don't come near me" character!).

Wow - what a great painting. You really got the fur and used such a variety of colors in the body. Love the violets and blues.
And of course, the expression you got was perfect.
My only question- Im not sure what is behind the dogs right ear (left side looking on) Is it the tail? Its a little unclear.

Wonderful painting! "Mud puppy" was my 13-yo mutt's nickname when she was a pup, for all the reasons you'd expect. :D

Thanks for the nice feedback everyone. I hoped that you could see the personality I saw in this dog - that is what I wanted to convey.
Terrence - you are very right about the area on the left - I still have to work on the background, so I left the final tail swirl til that is done - it will be the swirl of the tail eventually.
Nice job I love the lighting. THis guy looks exactly like a friend of mine's little Lhasa Apso I will have to send her here to look! :D
