I like this painting very much. I wonder if it is the flash causing some of the shadows and dark reflections in the water to lighten up a bit.

Nice palette you have here .......... and a British waterscape ! Not much to critique on ........ very pretty to look at.

nice colors .. I would never have guessed water-color from the application

 I also like the colours, but to me it looks more like an acrylic painting. Did you do the highlights with gouache? I would like to see purer colours mixed on the paper rather than the palette to have more transparency. Otherwise an pretty good attempt. Chammi.

Gilberte, thanks so much for putting the picture upright! I still dont know how to work things right!

you know the application is probably not correct, I am more use to acrylic and oil, so I painted with watercolor like I do with acrylics, very heavy and thickly.

your right Chammi, the next one I try I will use alot more water and try to get that light transparent feel, watercolor is very trickey and I will need a little more practice!

Hi Balfour,

Watercolors and oils .... it's like water and fire ....... but you'll get the knack of it.
You can easily rotate your picture in Photoshop or Photosuite ...

If you have time check on the watercolor paintings of Arnold Lowrey in the Watercolor forum ... they are MAJESTIC !

It is a very beautiful painting!

You might enjoy gouache. It is a type of watercolor which is designed to be used in a heavier, more opaque fashion. There are a few examples of gouache paintings on my web page.
