OMG, am I seriously startinga real-live S&T thread, and not even cheating (much)??? I can't believe it! I'd better post fast before someone sneaks up on me...

The first one is one of my "Gypsies" (Moretti), the second is a wavelet bead (more Moretti) with silver leaf and transparent light sky blue on ivory, the third is my version of "Starry Night" on grape Uroboros, using a stringer pulled from mixed furnace frits, and the last is playing with Uroboros trans. dark blue and more frits. Wheeeeeee! Can't wait to see what everyone posts!

I'm feeling very much out of my league here. Everyone here seems to have techniques that my not very advanced teacher couldn't even dream of. Still, I have had my hothead for about six months now and I mostly use strips of stained glass so maybe that explains why my bead are so elementary.

If anyone has any suggestions for what I might try, your comments will not go unheeded :) .

Merry Christmas from Blizzardy Halifax!

Too much needs to be said about all these beads, but there is just too little time. I have a million and 4 things to do before we have to leave for appointments this afternoon.......

Maybe I'll make it back later tonight and see what other wonders show up here!

Wonderful stuff everyone!

Since I finally have the Zoozii pillow, I thought I'd do a set with that great copper green/ opal yellow reaction... this one also has an ivory base with olive powder and extra gold opaque frit.

Laughing my arse off. That's my new technique for tweeking my pics to exactly the correct color - tweek the blue in the graph paper and boom it's all correct. Really, it was the closest sheet of paper handy.

Hi everyone,
Today's show and tell is really great, and it's the first thing I look at when I roll out of bed in the morning. Here is a Valentine perfume bottle with love and hearts on it, and also a little hollow with raku powder and stringer.

I've seen some great pieces here at WC, a few of them are from some old friends of mine that I haven't seen for a long time. Jeff Welsh and Tom Heath were both co-workers of mine many years back. A couple of awesome talents there. I don't do much jewelry myself, it's my wife that's the bead maker in the family. I'll post some photos of her work later. With her permission of course. In the mean time, here are a couple of Eagle pieces that I did a while back.

Wow..., today is one of the best most inspiring S&T's.
Juliet, would you please tell me how you do that round marble looking swirly bead?
I would really like to try that.
Kalera, wonderful Gypsys, and I can't remember everyone's names and work, but it's all great.

Juliet, would you please tell me how you do that round marble looking swirly bead?
I would really like to try that.

Sure. Make a white core, cover it with translucent glass leaving some of the white core showing around the mandrel holes. Round up the bead. "Paint" on 8 stringer stripes mandrel hole to mandrel hole. Tuck the white stringer using a pointy tool up into the white area. Then let the bead cool a bit. Now heat the center of the bead evenly around the whole middle of the bead. Keep it turning and keep heating it until the middle starts swirling around. keep turning the bead in one direction. This drags the stripes into the swirl shapes. Have fun! ~Juliet
