Am on a mad dash to Christmas with this so thought I'd share the steps. It's a present for my husband. I owe kudos to SandyKim's "Paul in Pieces" for revitalized inspriation after seeing her post in Portraiture. I have done this kind of thing before with fabric pieces and have threatened to do it with paint.

I guess everyone else did this in college! LOL

Anyway - the piece is really starting to look like my husband so that is good.

There are 576 1" squares - which may prove to be my downfall. 24" x 24" overall. Almost every square is a different color and matched specifically to a printed version. I can already see some squares that need to change in value.

First pix is the computer generated mosaic and then the progress.

Hey Turbocat! This is a fascinating process. I'm so glad you posted it as a WIP so we could watch it unfold.

Next step - getting closer. I've roughly framed in the face edge and MORE SQUARES! Now I'm starting to lose my place counting over and across. It's like a big crossword puzzle.
