Pretty good for your first painting. Exhibits good dimension & eye for balance. You studying anyone in particular?

Thanks for all the kind comments.

Tamana: no I'm not really studying anyone in particular. I've been a photographer for years and decided to pick up the brush not long ago. After trying a few realistic type paintings I realized what I really wanted to do was just let the painting become whatever it wanted to be. I guess for realism, photography is my thing. For painting I just want it to be something completely different.

Until I started painting I didn't understand abstract art or minimalistic art at all. But, as I started painting, it became really clear to me why those movements began.

Have you look at works by Donald Judd? See below:

pstiles - I like this painting. It's simple, minimal and well executed with good dimensionality and depth of field and color balance.
Do more. Do more more often. :D

Simple, minimalistic. Good balance. Restricted and controlled use of colors and greys. I think it's great for a first painting. I hope you will bring us more.
