I had the painting of the red head nude on ABU for about 6 months. Then I put her on ebay as an auction for a week at $99. Nothing. So I was going to give her to my cousin for Christmas, but thought I'd put her in my store for awhile first. That was just a couple of days ago.

She sold last night for $150, and they wrote and asked if they bought another if I would combine shipping (they didn't say which other). Of course I said yes! Now I have to wait and see which other they mean! Ohhhhhh exciting. lol

I'm thinking of what to do for next year.

I think I'll sell prints of all my better paintings in auction format. I'll put the original painting in the store for higher prices - more like what I would expect to get from a small gallery.

People can bid on the prints if they can't afford the originals.

It's silly to let the originals go for the prices that we sometimes get on eBay.

Once a month or so I'll have a "special auction" where "special" doesn't mean "sale" it means that I'm auctioning one of the originals. If that doesn't work though, if the prices are too low or don't reach the reserve, I'll stop doign that! When I have a "special auction" I'll FP it.

That sounds like a great plan Eliza.

I've seen lots of original art I would love to have, but could not afford.

Seeing the original, with the prints, would give those like me the incentive to buy the print.

It's just luck. I had FP's that didn't sell at all, these did, but the auction didn't have any bids until one last night, and the rest all happened in the last 10 minutes. Just the right people were online at that time.

Hopefully after Christmas people will be back.
