This was painting over something I did not like, so I just went for it and I like it. It's small, maybe 8 x 10 in oil.

I wish I could get my bigger painting to have the spontaneity (sp?).

Turbocat..very nice...it is exciting to look at..i could imagine this is a scene where a huge squall line is beginning to cast it's shadow over the landscape. :) jaydub

The simple dark line gives the eye something clear to seperate it from the atmospheric effect of the rest of it. Thats a good technique, and alot of abstract paintings (small ones especially) don't have something simple and sharp to do that. Good, simple, straitforward, unclutterred.

Thank you all for the comments. I think it worked because I was painting over something and was "freer" with the paint. No preconceptions in mind.

It is that moment of calm and silence when nature holds it's breath and the air is charged with electricity - just before the storm unleashes. Beautifully captured.
