I find the washy x's distracting from an otherwise brilliant piece.. "hazy shades of winter"

the thing about the washy x's relates to the whole state of mind thing in artistic expression.
lots of rich underlay here
I see what you mean
it might be the effect of the ankle - pain.
still it is honest work and valid in its own right.

Application flows like a river and the palette is wonderful. I would've liked to have seen the trees without the lines, but as Jerry said; It is honest and valid in its own right.

Thanks for the views everyone. And I get the point about the lines.

I felt that without them the colours were too strong and in your face. Since it is an imaginary landscape I thought the criss crosses sort of distance the image... like one is seeing it through glass.
