All you folks with your palette knife painting I gotta get my old palette knives out and do one too. I have to first go to the store and get something I'd want to eat afterwards. ha ha
I found it interesting how you included the reflection of the room in your CD. I don't get the feeling that your CD is rounded as it would be. What do you think?
You grounded all your objects nicely by putting shadows under them and extending outward.
Your objects seem a little to concentrated on one side of your canvas. It may just be me, but I would like to see things a little more balanced.
I think it's a terrific idea of combining food, drink and a CD. I enjoyed seeing those reflections in that CD!
Best,
Kathy :)

Hi I'm sorry I just realized what I thought was a drink bottle was actually an oil bottle.
Please exuse the error :(
Best,
Kathy:)

Hi Kathy,
Actually, it's an old champagne bottle from seasons long ago.
So, your first thoughts were correct. The CD shape is a bit flawed, as you've observed. I was going for the essence more than for any real accuracy. I thought adding the reflections would help it read a bit truer.
Thanks for looking and your comments!
All the best,

I like the texture in knife paintings - it really shows up well here in this piece.
I like the variation in blues in your background - it gives the eyes an interesting place to rest.
When I squint I notice a division of the canvas - right side light and left side dark. Also all of your objects are on the right side. This holds my eye in this area of the canvas. A pattern of light and objects that would take my eye around the whole canvas & would create more interest.
Please post your next still life here too - maybe we can get this forum hoppin' a little!
