The 51st Juried Exposition was open to any waterbased medium on paper.
It opened in Brockville, Ontario,Canada, last week and after 1 month moves to Ottawa for a month.
Brockville is a small town about 100 k's from Ottawa and Cornwall Ontario....the home of the famous Deb Leger.....of WC fame. :)
The Presidents Choice Award went to Margo Boucher for her painting of "Lively Lilies", the last of the photos. Margo's claim to fame is that she also lives in the town of Cornwall and received her "Fellowship" last week along with some watery eyed old guy by the name of Brian Seed......
Enjoy....

Most of the painting are full size. I had to crop some of them to chop off the heads of the people sitting below so they are a bit off.

The one to the above left is really amazing IRL....the geess are white with just a few simple lines and shadow to give the birds some form.

Margo Boucher's painting is full size acrylic and is floating in the frame and raised slightly from the backing.
Of course it was picked by the President....who is female.....and only gives her awards to the "flower painters".....

Treading carefully here Brian, but if I understand this rightly you too received the "Fellowship" last week, and were not teary eyed because you were feeling sorry for yourself because Margot got it and not you.

O.K. Sticking my neck out here and shout CONGRATULATIONS!!!

and thank you so much for showing us the photos of the paintings - wonderful to see!!!!!!

Brian:

Great photos showing quite a range of styles. Congratulations on the Fellowship! I've decided to attend the CSPWC opening on Dec. 4th in Toronto so hopefully I'll be able to post some pictures of that event too.
All the best.

Congratulations Brian!!!!!! You sure deserve it! You have a lot of talent and it's great to see you recognized in such a prestigious society!

Had to laugh though at your words of famous for me! :D :p

Even a watery-eyed old guy has to admit that Margot's work is great! She can make her colours sing better than Jeanne Dobie, I'd say! The acrylic of hers that you shot wasn't singing as much as her w/c's do though.

(Did you get down to the Adirondack's National WC Exhibition in Old Forge? It was great. I was just awestruck, standing in front of Cheng-Khee Chee's piece.)

Where is the exhibition going to be held when it moves to Ottawa? I just have to go see it now, then I can come back here and say how awestruck I was standing in front of an actual Seedy piece! :)

And this weekend, I'm mailing in my application for the Ottawa Society. :)

No....and I really admire his work......what little I have seen of it. Will try to make a point of getting there next year.
The opening reception is on Sunday, Dec 5th from 2 to 4 PM at the Visual Arts Center Orleans, 1490 Youville Drive, Orleans...
Hope to see some of your stuff next spring...
