MY COMMENTS:
During a long conversation with my father in May of this year, I had brought along a lump of modeling clay, and roughed out a bust of him as we talked, using of course my fingers, but also a crochet hook and an unsharpened pencil. I don't know anything about sculpture, as far as firing, casting, etc. I studied it briefly way back in college, but have forgotten anything I might have learned.

The scale shot is blurry as it is hard to hold a camera steady with one hand and hold the subject with the other!

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
I would appreciate any advice about resources for various sculpture mediums, as well as any workshops in my area (nearest LARGE metro area, Memphis) that might be of help to me.

This is not my medium - wish I could do something this good.... why not check with the Memphis College of fine Art?

Well, I'm embarrassed to say that one of the colleges I attended lo those many years ago was the Memphis College of Fine Art, in addition to Arkansas State University.

Excellent suggestion though, they did have a very good instructional staff in sculpture, bound to be better now.

Thank you for your interest.
