Once again, the little digi doesnt really do this one justice, but what the heck.

Another nice one. How do you get the water looking so reflective? Do you use a knife?

Thanks Carol. I dont use a knife for water as a rule, generally for the foreground ground textures. I wet the board first by running a wettish brush over it, so the paint will glide better, otherwise it will stick and not flow out smoothly. I paint the darker shadow at the water egde and drag this down with a wide and narrow brush into the wet board allowing the paint to move smoothly. I quickly paint in the main water colour underneath using the same brush but washed out and use it wet. While both areas are wet I blend the two together using wide sweeping sideways strokes of the brush. This tends to work well as the darker reflection area is slightly dry and doesnt move too much so the blur is just right. I hope that gives you some idea.

That explained it quite well. Thanks.

This work is beautiful. Thank you for the description of how you paint water. You've earned my mentor point for today.
