View Full Version : Tickets

This is an unfinished watercolor pic. I did a test background in Photoshop because I wasn't sure what kind of ticket booth to do, and also because I'm not sure if I should keep going or do over. I like the Story here, but something about the kids doesn't look right (this is what happens when you don't use a reference, I reckon). Comments and critiques welcome as to what could improve this.

aw...cuties! like this idea a lot.
sugs:boys nose/hand tangency followed by closeness of girls hand gets kinda crowded there. don't know if a hand overlap, producing an 'x' would be overboard. c what u mean about the kids...but they are consistantly styled so it doesn't bug me. (maybe their heads are bigger than true to life?...can't pinpoint it...but like i said it doesn't bug me one bit)
i could see a ticket window like you got only maybe a bit higher circle & seeing the ticket seller sticking their face up to the hole w/ some lighthearted expression. feel it needs more elements added...i don't know...gum on the sidewalk...knocked over 1/2 empty popcorn box. stickers/pricing on ticket window. idears anyways.

I like the concept and technique for sure, I see what you mean about the kids, I'm guessing it must be a proportion thing, but I'm at a loss as to how to help, as I'm not too good with figures myself. I have (or had) a book on figure drawing that showed childrens proportions - I'll see if I can dig it up.

Thanks, guys, I think you nailed it. I did a quick fiddle with it in Photoshop to change the proportions, and it seems to make a difference. I made the kids' faces smaller and made the boy taller. Which means this is a DO OVER!
