Hi,
this is going to be a early Christmas present to my grandparents and I want it to be perfect. Kizzy was their dog that was put down many years ago.

I would appreciate all C&C to make it better.

I posted this as a WIP (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=225104) on the Animal/Wildlife forum.

DETAILS: Done on 12x16 canvas board with acrylic paint.

Thanks for looking! :)

I'm thinking maybe just a tiny bit of detail on the nose to make it shiny? But it's a wonderful portrait, and I would be thrilled to get it!

Hi Angela: this looks great. I am sure your grandparents will love it.

I am curious about how you paint fur. You make it look so real.

Thank you for commenting Pam, Dave, TxAggieDarlin, Jo, damar and Carol!

Jo: The nose isn't all dark, I do have highlights around the nostrils...it just turned out dark in the photo.

Lady Carol: No special way I paint the fur. I first put down several undercoats of the color I want then come back with a thin small paintbrush and paint one hair at a time! It requires A LOT of patience! :D :D

Lovely painting! Your grandparents will be thrilled! I really like the background colour you used, it doesn't compete with the dog, but helps with the feeling of being outdoors. Love it!

This is a wonderfully expressive canine portrait. Your grandparents are sure to love it. Excellent rendering of the fur. My only comment would be to deepen the shadows on the dog's throat a bit to help bring the muzzle forward. But if you want to leave it be, I understand that too! Very nice either way.

I love your avatar. That cute pony made me laugh right out loud.
