Check this out my first one I did just 2 months ago I used a natural sponge for the entire sky, just blotting in the clouds. In the second I did a nice thick layer of blue then used the sponge in a horizontal sweeping motion. I am very pleased with my latest sky!!! James

I remember that painting; you have really improved since then!
On your latest sky, the clouds picked up some of the blue when you painted them, giving them a nice tone and balance.
Since white is fairly opaque, you were able to make the clouds while the blue paint was wet (without getting "blue clouds"), letting a small amount of the blue get into them, but not overpowering the white.
Isn't it funny how things work out?! :D

The sponge technique for the sky is very effective here!!
Good to know about the sponge! I've never used it in my acrylic work only in watercolor painting. Will have to experiment with them in acrylics!
Makes me want to walk in to that painting, sit on the bench and watch the tide come in!!! Nice work!! :)

...well, actually, I like both of them...they both seem to fit for that particular piece of work!
