View Full Version : A Project A Month - Hosting Schedule

Charlie's Mum
10-27-2004, 04:50 PM
The project belongs to the members of the forum and we invite you, the members, to sign up and host for a month.

The choice of subject is the prerogative of the host, and the project would need to be submitted and approved for the beginning of the month in question.
(Allow about a week for this).

Creating a project is very straightforward but the guides and moderators are here to give any help required.

So here's the start of the schedule, please choose a month and indicate in your reply, in this thread, if you will need a reminder! :wink2:

It is easy and I can attest to that.

I think alot of people don't think they are good enough, or need to see how the first one goes first. James

I hope people are not mixing the Project up with the Classroom!

Anyone is entitled to create a project....all you need is the idea, the description and the reference images! You do not need to feel you are an accomplished artist!
The first project is already well underway - Check it out Spring Down Under, Fall Up Top.and the best way to learn is to partake!

If anyone would like to check The Project System via the Contents Area in the blue bar at the top of the page, you will see all the information on how to create a project. Your Forum Team is also here to help!!!!!

The job of the host, after setting the project, need only be to keep a check of paintings uploaded and comment on them.........to encourage.......and we can all do that!

Anyone who would like to host Please Sign Up!!!!....below!

Just a quick question,
Can we make the project in advance? I'll probably forget otherwise.
If so, count me down for December!!

Thanks Dave and James - delighted to have you signed up! :D

Dave, just have everything ready and stored on your computer, e.g. any refs from the Image Library....I found it best to have everything in a separate folder for easy access. Then, about mid November, I'll PM you to remind you to submit it.
James, just make sure your's is ready before all the birthday celebrations!!!!!!!!! (My husband tells me ALL the best people have December birthdays - I wonder why???!!!!)

Mystfy,
To create a project, simply click the pull-down menu (located on the top of every page, under the WC! logo) labeled "Content Areas" and then click the "Art Project System". On the side column, there will be a link that says "Create New Project" (it's listed under "Start Your Own Projects"). When you click the link, it will bring you a form that will guide you through the process of making your project.
If you come across any problems, you can consult the "Guidelines For New Projects" page or the New User forum.
Please let us know which month you would like to sign up for!

Hi M, Boy this has filled up fast. I'll take May for you and then that gives me a breather from my WDE host, which I can't remember whether is March or April.
Looking forward to it.

Well I was thinking that I will put up a selection of 3 to 4 paintings, that way we can discuss how we went, etc. And unfortunetly (sp?) yes it will have to be an interpretation from another medium, unless anyone has any objections or ideas :D .
Anyway, looking forward to it ;)

Gosh Stacey, I hope you didn't feel I'd put you on the spot with my last post! :o

Your project is your choice....the rest of us will do our best! :D

Please don't feel anyone has to post their intended subject in advance; if you've got one, fine; if not, plenty of time to think about it! :D

lol I was thinking about that but my birthday month (july) is all taken up :crying:

Now we are on next years scedual already!

Ummm what about August - Progressive Story Book? :D

I set up the first page of the story and anyone that joins in will have a chance to do any page they choose and illustrate it as well. Then people can print out any page of the story they wish and make up their own book. No one book would be the same and have heaps of fantastic art in it. I'll also put links to sites on how to bind their books themselves.

Love the Progressive Story idea!

I'm dreadfully new here and it's a bit out there, but how would people feel about a "Fantastic Creatures" or "Myths and Legends" concept? Reference materials might be a bit difficult, unless you use others interpretations or animals that could be used as a base (lion and eagle for a griffin and such).

Is it a thought to consider, or a bit outlandish? Yes, no, maybe, runhide? :D

As far as I know fantasy is welcome here. In fact isn't there a fantasy forum somewhere on wetcanvas?

Glad you like the idea Phoenyx - and welcome to Wetcanvas  - watch it this place can be addictive! lol :D

I like August thanks.
I don't celebrate Halloween. Sorry. Not too big here in NZ - luckily.

Did I miss the November challenge? Please let me know where or how the challenges will be posted. Will they be the same format as others, or following the format of other forums (e.g., the Master of the Month Oil Forum)? Can't wait to start.

Nope :) . Projects are always up so you can participate in them whenever you like; you are not restricted to only participating during that month. The list we have been developing is simply a way of organizing which members will start the projects. We will start new projects on a monthly basis, but feel free to work on past projects.
There will be 'project disscusion threads' for questions about the project as well as commenting on other's work inspired by the project. The title of these threads will be as follows: "Project Disscusion: (Name Of Project)".
Yes, they will be the same format as other forums. I don't think 'Master of the Month' is a project, though.
Have fun!

Dave

Dropping in to say I've come up with a subject for the July Acrylics project- the title is to be "Summertime Stretch - Experiments in Acrylic". I began to really like (love!) acrylics after I took a workshop in experimental techniques and started exploring this medium. I believe Acrylic has lots of unexplored potential & I'd like to set up a project to what we can come up with for 'stretching' the possibilities!

Maureen, if you'd be kind enough to add the title on to the July project of the month - thanks :)

Even though I know I don't have to decide what my project will be yet, I have. After some serious thought and my own muse nagging me to do a painting like this I thought it would be fun if the participants picked their favorite season or do all 4 in one painting (spring, summer, fall, winter). We'll be painting what we think of when we think represents the seasons -
I think the title will be.... Seasonal Representations - Maureen would you be so kind and add that to the list.

Thanks
