View Full Version : Jungle Bungle Mix n' Match

10-11-2004, 09:26 PM
They turned out pretty decent! I'd intended make these a set that could be mixed up on a change-a-bead (Giraffe head! Flamingo body! Osterich legs!) But they grew, and grew, and grew - giraffe legs, ya know? - to 4.5" x 2" and just didn't work for that anymore. I'm going to try for a smaller group with different heads/legs on the backs, and maybe that'll work... hmmm. Bead of the month club... hmmmmmm. These put me on a jungle animal binge, will post a pic of the ass-backwards zebra tomorrow - Jim the Hubby is getting good with the camera! *s*

Man, I used to love those books when I was a kid, where you could turn the different sections of the pages to mismatch the heads, torsos and feet. These beads are awesome!

My favorite characteristics are the knobby knees and how the bills on the birds are so dimensional!

10-11-2004, 11:28 PM
These are fabulous!
Can I ask questions?

Well, I will.
So do you have sketches before hand? I can't imagine going into this blind. I know you already do wonderful animals, but I think it is the details that make them.

10-11-2004, 11:28 PM
Very cute, Very funny, Very cool!

10-11-2004, 11:56 PM
Oh my gosh those are a hoot! They really grab your attention and make you want to call them your own. I can't wait to see what you do with different animals. Terrific job, they have a lot of character.

Thank you, I'm so glad you all like them! I guess I'll have to make some more, eh?

Yep, these guys I had to draw out in advance, but since I was doing mix n' match I was an idiot and drew them all in mixed-up mode, so when it was time to actually make a couple I had to go hunting thru all the notes.

I scanned a couple of the design pages - they got pretty creative down toward the end... when I started merging velociraptors and turnips, I knew it was time to stop doodling... *s*

Just when you think there is nothing original left...

Those are absolutely adorable. I would think anyone would snatch them up wherever you sell them.

Thanks for sharing,

Fantastic, innovative idea - I love them. But I would still love to see them 'mixed up' even if they did get big - I think they'd be good for a laugh

They are great - I can't imagine the talent behind them!

Velociraptors and turnips? Did you ever have that SIMS genetics computer game?

What great beads! So what was your plan for a sculptured center for the turnip? My mind boggles! LOL!

As usual, one peek at your beads makes me head on back to your website to drool.

If anyone needs me, you know where I'll be!

Except we've only seen the fronts . . . . . what about their butts?? LOL! I'd wear them with the butts facing forward depending on my mood ;)

Great work Sharon! I took your class about a year ago and I just loved it!

10-12-2004, 10:16 AM

10-12-2004, 10:33 AM
What a great idea. I like them the way they are. I would also like them mixed up as well. That could depend on ones mood. I think you should make more of these beads. Thanks for sharing.

You are just a FREAKIN' GENIUS! What kind of water do they have out there in Alameda? I'll have to stop for a couple gallons next time I pass thru. . .

Dogs, you must do dogs. . .

Brava Miss Sharon!

10-12-2004, 04:22 PM
Ohhhhh... they like it, they really like it! Thank you all! Here's a pic of the first one I tried, before I realized it'd be better to make the body as a separate piece. Think I'll re-do it, if I can figure out how to get an udder in there! *s*

10-12-2004, 05:56 PM
YOU ARE DA BOMB!!!!!!!!!!

You're on Sharon, I'll be there with bells on!:D And hey, I don't think you're weird, really!!:p

10-15-2004, 01:48 PM
I'm planning on being there too!!!! Maybe you can steak us all out a good place to stay!!!

10-16-2004, 12:08 AM
Let's all meet in the bar, but keep in mind that after a couple beers, anything you say is going to go in one ear and out the udder...

FYI, I'm in serious triumph right now, I figured out the design for the mix n' match beads and made one, and it works great (hooray, hooray!) One of the pieces has a crack, but whattheheck, the design worked! It has a chicken head, body & legs on one side and giraffe head, monkey body and ballerina legs on the other, and it spins to make 8 different combos (hooray, hooray!) I'll get DH to take digitals tomorrow and post it as a separate thread (hooray, hooray!)
(hooray, hooray!)

Those are so cute. I adore all your funny puns with the beads too!
