While I was busy painting,
Posting poems, icon faces
Our Kev was at the doctor,
Having hinge trussed up in braces

And having lots of time to think,
is not always a good thing,
And Kev came up with bright idea.
“I’ll give Sandbanx a ring”

He left me cryptic message
Impetuous and rash.
And said lets do some painting
“It’ll get me off my ash”

And Sandbanx having thick skull,
Said Ok mate, I commit
And Kev said “oh what have I done.
I hope I’ll get roun2it!”

So while we are off to do this stuff,
Please, people do please think,
Of Kev’s Chris and my own Brenda
This could drive them both to drink.

The rules are fairly simple,
Not to confuse poor Kev and me:
We have to paint a picture
Subject is potpourri.

Each week we chose an image.
(And Kev says I can start)
We both will have a go at it,
And post our piece of art.

And weekly we will post them,
For all you lot to see
And “Ohhs” will be for Kevin,
The “Ahhs” will be for me.

But wait that’s not entire thing,
There’s one thing more needs done
Something more thing we gotta do,
To add a bit of fun

Along with every painting,
Must also write a poem
The poem can be a haiku,
Or limerick, or tome.

So that’s the painting challenge
I don’t know what you think.
But if we get all through this.
YOU GUYS OWE US A DRINK!!

Good luck Kevin, Here is the first image. Since we start late, it is fairly simple I hope.

Size of painting is your choice.

Image will be selected each week alternating Kevin and Chris. Can paint entire image or a part of it.

Post Thursday Evening. Kev is five hours ahead, so I will maybe be a bit behind there? We may need to adjust this rule??

Poem can be either: related to painting, or involving any event that occurred during the week it was painted.

We will leave 5 weeks spare same as Andy and Sharon.

Chris

Here is this weeks offering, Pub at Whitstable. Hopefully we can finish up there or somewhere similar.

So I throw down the gauntlet
and Chris picks up the glove
But why did I ever throw it
He wants me to paint a pub.............it rhymes I think!

A picture I said we'd paint
Chris says 'Thats not clever'
'Lets do a rhyme as well'
Wot me! Na nay never!!!!!!!

Oh go on then, A painting a week
Think I can give that a try
It really can't be all that bad
But the poem will make me cry :crying:

Hostess JT with Olga from de' Netherlands
Our Sharon and Andy in his shed
Are going to be painting piccies
52 x 6 is ......... a lot to put in a thread.

So all you WCer's,
Have Remy and Lauren to thank
We hope the paintings wo'nt be rough
But I know the rhymes will be rank!!

OK lets get going. Due to the time difference it will be easier for me to PM my painting to you every Thursday and for you to then post them together, as per Remy and Lauren. If thats OK.

I think we should stick with Sunday to post the image to be started next Thursday so that we can at least think about it. So I'll have a look for something and post it later then we shall have two on the go. If thats OK.

I like the pub, nice sky. I bet Henry would do a fabulous job of this. Oh well, will post Thursday.

This is going to be awesome
Kind of wish it could be a foursome
but two will do so I'll watch you
and that will end my boredom

.....Love the first reference shot. Great Choice Chris. I can't wait to see what you both do with that sky.

A year in a life, oh dear
that's a long long time
52 paintings
and lots of rhyme

Kev to chris has put the task
every Thursday night, who will be last
a painting a week,
they'd better go fast

good luck to you both
as you duel with paint and with prose
it will be interesting to watch
observers will be the winners I suppose

Oh,no what is this crime,
I cannot stand this *****ing rhyme!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your best wishes Andy & Elaine.

Oh just noticed Chris, a landscape with no green!!

No need for all posts to rhyme. Not wanting to put pressure on anyone and prevent them from commenting.

Kevin I agree. The pub is always a good place to start, Maybe we could finish with a pub painting as well. No green is correct sir.... we need a fast start as Thursday looms.

Elaine, you are more than welcome to paint along... but why not have a poke at Malty and see if he has such stamina as Kevin and I.

Andy, good luck in yours and Sharon as well. Maybe we can all meet in this or a similar pub one day and laugh over the year about to happen. I will arrange plane ticket as soon as one of you says go.

So off we go, the calendar waits
in the land of painting and prose.
Where we will be a year from now.
I dont think none of us knows.

Phew, I think the hardest job is picking the ref. photo.

Anyway here is the one to start after Thursday, you were kind to me by going to the UK so I found a Canadian one, just up your street!! HERE (http://www.wetcanvas.com/RefLib/showphoto.php?photo=23321&sort=1&cat=fav&page=1).

It's a street scene, something I haven't done before, so it is a simple one, again crop, add or subtract all you wish.

Thanks Nandie for a great shot of Whistler St, BC.

We start in a pub, with mucky beer,
With hearty folk, full of good cheer,
Then up Whistler Street, which Nandie holds dear,
So get out your paints, and please.........don't smear.

Edit ......Elaine, your more than welcome to paint along, you could bring Malty along for the ride if you wish, or start a challange yourself. It is quite fun and I haven't even got my brushes wet yet.

Thanks Kevin. This is where Brian and I eat lunch every day, Up the Street!!!

Actually I know an Architect doing a library in Whistler. I can add him to the scene!

Good luck and yes, Elaine, KatinHat, Brian: jump in when the mood strikes.

Not just a painting
But a rhyme as well
This Ill have to watch
It should be really swell

Olga and Jaytee
Are going head to head
Nothing fancy here
As youve already read

No single image 'tween us
We couldnt stand the pace
Just getting something on here's
Sufficient of a race !

So good luck to you others
I hope you keep it up
Whats the challenge worth to you
A GBPound or Buck?

Kristen and Lauren started this race
JT and Olga have kept up the pace
Andy and Sharon raised the bar just a bit
and now Chris and Kev will get roun2it

This is going to be so much fun!!!

Hey Wayward, your input is much appreciated. Hope you enjoy, although would like to see you jump in from time to time.

And what type of manager is Doug if he lets his star prizefighter stay up all night and start a brawl with Lulu???

Oh my,..you two are maaaaaaaaaad,..painting from the same reference photo and submitting a poem each week. Like didn't you think painting one per week was enough of a challenge, lol. Gutsy challenge you have here for sure. Congratulations for taking it up    This is going to be a great year watching this challenge unfold along with the other two.

Erm,....that's 312 paintings  between the three YOP pairs we'll have available to view and make comment. That's enormous when you think about it. Good Luck guys!!!!

One a week!!!!!!!! I tought it was A year of painting.... assumed it was a one of???

312 paintings is an awful bunch...
its 0nehunret n' four times threes
I thought it would be fun is all,
never thought about the trees.

These challenges will be testing.
a whole year of paints beforus
but never mind about us six,
consider rainy forest!

The timber trade will thrive this year,
a lot of dough they'll make.
but think about the bugs and birds,
their homes'r trees for goodness sake.

I would love to make this poem,
a few more verses still
but have to go to painting class
(another tree to kill)

So anyone can adda,
line to this fine tale
but send it e-lectronic like
dont print and post in mail.

Cos thers hardly trees to go around,
half dozen here'll needit.
So save the paper, save the whales,
and God save ol' rountoit.

As always fond regards, no time to check spelling so forgivethat and "nearly ryhmes" as well, please. I did try... honest.

Oh Come on, Chris,
‘and God save ol’roun2it,’
What kind of line is that,
It’s so difficult to chew it.

Must ruminate, and think of trees,
Greenhouse effect we plunder
Should I give in? Nah, not me
But then again ...I wonder.

This rhyme, it is a killing me,
It’s even in my dreams,
Now Chris says it’s all a waste
Paper’s running out in reams.

I cannot sleep, I am awake
Unable to tell you why
Could it be the pic you chose
And that darn, difficult sky.

I’ve laid a wash of yellow,
And then another, of blue
I tinkered a bit, and pulled it round,
Oh, no that won’t do……

It’s in the bin, will start again
This time will be more free,
But what’s that that Banxy said,
There goes another tree!!!!!!!

Stop, stop. I must start thinking normally and not in rhyme, it's taking over my life. It's not the painting that is going to be hard, it's thinking in rhyme as I go about my daily tasks.

........Oh Chris what have you turned on in my head?

.....Is there an off switch?....... :wink2:

Been looking for the pub on the internet, just to put a name to a face. Sent Chris a PM with this pub attached but now I look again, it's not the one. Oh well try again.

HERE (http://www.shepherd-neame.co.uk/pubs/pubs.php/sportsman_whitstable)

Having had another look, it may be you know. It does say it has been refurbished.

........Oh Chris what have you turned on in my head?

.....Is there an off switch?.......

Sadly theres not,
Dear Kevin dear Kevin ,

Dear Kevin dear Kevin

Dear Kevin dear Kevin ?
We never can stop it
Dear kevin, thats Wot  :( :wink2:
