Here's the many times requested pics of the whole piece... I showed some close ups the other day and you just had to see the whole thing- LOL

I put the little hiney icon as instructed... I hope this is OK.

If posting this item in here has offended you, I am sorry. This is my art and I personally don't see any thing wrong with it... but far be it from me to push my view point of the world on any body else... yeah right! :D

Boro "massager" I used Northsatar color rod.

...again, I'm not trying to offend anyone here ;)

This is one of my fancier ones! I hope you like it... the colors are better in person. Enjoy!

Beautifully done. I have sold a couple of Art Glass "massagers" on Ebay. You will have to list it under the "adult section". I have tried several times to list them under art glass (as they are art) and my auctions were pulled. When you list in the "adult" section you don't get the real art glass appreciators. I have one more to list but am holding off due to the hassel it was.

Good luck!

I sell about 20 a week on ebay... and yes, you have to list in the right place... but it's really to protect the kids, so I don't mind at all. I used to do really good on Ebay and now there's just too many people trying to do it. I guess it went down hill about a year and a half ago. I keep hoping people will get tired of not making money... but no such luck. I'm luycky though that I've had a good following for several years now... repeat buyers are always a life saver when it's slow. Besides... people know by our feedback that they can trust us. I just hit 1000 yesterday! Woohooie!!! I am kinda bummed about going from a nice purple to a red star though...

Thanks every body for the more than kind words. I've really enjoyed getting to know some of you. You have all been GREAT! I won't feel as up tight about doing a show and tell in the future... I'll just keep it with a hiney... feel free to share the thread if you have some "adult" show and tell. I don't want to be a thread hog- LOL

Show more please! You know we like variety!

I hope they were mine that you liked- LOL. :wink2:

There are a few good sellers on Ebay... and some you should not even consider buying from due to quality issues. As with any industry, there are those that are in it just for the money. With any functional glass product, human safety becomes an issue. Anybody considering or currently making these should be aware that they are fully liable for any injury caused by their work due to manufacturers defects. Do the research... people are more important than making a few quick bucks... unfortunately there are some people that just don't get it. I seriously doubt some sellers even anneal their pieces correctly or know how that is done. Not a big deal for beads or marbles, but these aren't beads...

Dangit! I wasn't going to get on my "quality is important" soap box... I guess I just feel passionate about the subject. I could go on for hours... but won't Can I get a hand down from here??? Anyone?

:D

Thanks again for all the kudos... I'm just glad you like my work... I do try :)

I have a quick question... I was reading a post on these early last year about using colors boro and the chemical properties not being good for the body... Is that true or do you encase the color with clear?

BTW: I think these are stunning pieces of artwork and fun. I looked around at your ebay auctions and wondered which work be best.. heh

99.9% is encased in clear with the exception of a few color wraps around the outside... normally done in cobalt. However, if someone does have a violent reaction to metals... they should think about it. I've heard all kinds of "storries" about this too. I've asked around and done a lot of research on the subject... some say the metals are embeded in the glass and will not pose a problem at all. Well, what about the colors that produce a reduction effect and the metal rises to the surface? Will enough of it make contact to get a reaction... I am going to say probably not. If a person is that sensitive to metals, they would already be eating with plastic spoons and would never wear a pair of jeans with rivets or snaps. If you are such a person... stay away from colored pieces there is a very slim chance or a reaction. If you can wear glass beaded jewelry, you're safe. I have sold countless toys and NEVER had a complaint about irritation of any kind. The laws of the universe dictate that any thing is possible, so I can't ever be 100% about any thing. If you're that worried about taking even the smallest risk, you wouldn't be using glass any way. It's normally for the more adventurous spirits... ;)

Another claim floating around out there is that color makes the toys impure and there for compromises the structural integrity... this is normally spread by comanies that either can't do color work or don't want to take the time to do it right. If you have a proper annealing procedure in place, the glass is stronger than you will ever need it to be during use. If they are done right! I really didn't mean for this thread to be glass toys 101, but it seems you have questions... I'm only too happy to answer, so ask away.
:D :D :D

That's beautiful Mr Smiley! I agree 100% with Suzan.. I don't frequent the other art forums on here so I'm not sure what goes on, but I often wonder, do people use the hiney icon for paintings of the naked human form? It just seems a shame that so many people won't be able to share the beauty of this piece of art because it may offend them. Oh well.. I guess not everyone is as free-thinking as I!

On the subject of 'massagers' - I just had a friend of mine return from the USA who knows how much I want to start my own collection of phallic 'massagers' (read into that what you will  ) and she brought me back one she purchased while she was there. It's not fancy, just clear glass, but it's so beautiful I almost want to show it off on the coffee table instead of hiding it in the cupboard like some 'dirty little secret'. One day when we have our new home built, DH Russ is going to build a glass display cabinet for me and I AM going to start a real collection - and I'll be damned what people think. Anyway, most people who know me wouldn't be exactly shocked at seeing something like that displayed in my house! :D

I'd love to check out your auctions Mr Smiley, unfortunately, as an Australian, we can't get access to the adult section on the US eBay site... there's that prudish attitude at work again. Seems ridiculous to me that they are quite happy to accept my credit card to pay my eBay fees, but that it doesn't prove I'm 'adult' enough not to be offended by the adult section!

Cheers,
Sue :cat:

Sue, I wholeheartedly agree with you. It is a shame.

The hineycon is used on WC! pretty much only for erotic content, not nudity or the mention of body parts -- everywhere EXCEPT the glass forum.

It has become the practice here to use the hineycon much more liberally than would otherwise be the case, as a courtesy to our more delicate and unusually sensitive members.

BTW, that is one GORGEOUS piece of glass, Mr. S!!!

Following the hand exercise mentality... would a glass toy be tax deductible? Since it strengthens your hands to allow for larger bead making? HHHHmmmmm... you may be on to something!

Along the same line... would porn be considered a work out video?

Thanks again for all the kind words. I really appreciate it.

Paypal... Arg! long story. They closed my account while I was on vacation... seems a customer followed their link and paid for an "adult" auction. Since I wasn't home to police their system for them and refund immediately, I got the boot. My wife had to open an account in her name so we could continue to use them to buy stuff. We do have an account, we just can't accept payments for our adult items. There are ways to accept payment for $100 for other glass art... like an 8" door stopper ;)

I'm wishing you had $100 too- LOL

Hey Mr Smiley......what is POLARISCOPE TESTED?

Mr.Smiley
10-08-2004, 08:06 AM
isle-of-cats- Tell your "friend" - LOL

I never make the same exact thing twice... but if your question is will I make some with a lot of color in the future? Then the answer would be yes... I've got a nice one I just did yesterday. I'll post pics when it's done.

amayita- You crack me up girl... :D I guess this thread is your guilty pleasure.

A polariscope is a devise made up of two polarized lens and a light source. When you hold a p[iece of glass between the lens and the light comes from behind... it will make any stress in the glass visible. A properly annealed piece is clear and a piece with stress has all of these rainbows and halos in it. I use it to make sure my kiln controller functioned properly and all the pieces are properly annealed.

Great questions!

Have a good one every body!

Amayita,
This means it has been tested to deliver intense or paroxysmal excitement; especially : an explosive discharge of neuromuscular tensions at the height of arousal at a rate of thirty per minute or until you pass out, whichever comes first. :D

NOW.......for my peace of mind, I don't want to know who is buying these, because everytime I look at your tiny heads, I will know why you are smiling and that just creeps me out.

I'm always interested in how we seem to have our lines crossed in this country with regard to such things. The amount of violence on TV just amazes me - but a bare breast brings an outcry ... oh well - I guess that's a different thread and I don't want to detract from Mr.Smileys great attitude!

Anyway, beautiful thing ... I'm glad you put it in the "show" and now "tell" ... lol

Well, Mr Smiley,
Here I was after meeting you in the pay it forward thread, wondering what kind of glass art you did that you would need to have a semi to have a portable studio. Glass blower is what I thought. LOL...I will leave that one alone.

Now you have stirred up all this trouble, people being offended and all. Please! This is not the first sex toy thread to pop up on WC! I know more about some of the ladies on this board, than I think I should. I even know someone who travels with her "piece of art" for fear her children will find it when she is away.

Anyway, thank you for sharing. Your art is beautiful! If I had an extra 100 bucks or more, that beauty would be traveling the country. :D Makes me want a bigger torch and kiln.

Greg is over here thinking WC should have an adult section for the glass forum! LOL! I think we would all be there don't you?

Great job!

LOL I never read this thread until someone posted that they were offended or something... (um that's what the hineycon is for)

I thought by the title that it was some sort of boro shaping tool and since I didn't use boro I never read it!

ROFL! :D

I'm SO glad you're working more with color!!!! I've been a fan of your work since Heidi (Frozenfyre) started recommending you a few years ago. Whenever I have friends asking about good quality toys I always point them towards you first and foremost. BRAVO!!!!

Well, color me tickled! Thanks a bunch. I miss Heidi! I wonder what she's up to??? Heard from her lately?

This thread has been a lot of fun and I really feel welcome here at WC. I get warm and fuzzies several times a day chatting with you folks. Not to mention some full on belly laughs! :D

I'll post some new pics soon. I've been swamped this week and I hope I can come up for air soon. It's a welcome change not having any Hurricanes to deal with. I probably just jinxed it by saying that... oh well!

I guess it will be a little awkward this upcoming weekend at Peg's bead get-together though...
I wonder if sparks will fly between the Christians and the Pagan/Wiccan Witch (me) LOL

All I did was say I may have paid for that publicity... every one knows I am totally joking. Who made a comment that poked at her sensitivities? I certainly didn't. Some folks around here may need to chill out. I poke fun at myself long before I poke fun at anybody else. If you don't have a sense of humor, put me on your ignor list... please.

If you weren't talking about me... disregard.

Is it possible to have a thread go all the way to completion with out somebody shedding tears? Just wondering?

Back on track here folks... this thread is about a piece of art glass... The Virginia thread doesn't have to make it into every other thread on here... does it? :D

I got tons of glass today, so I'm not letting this get me down.

*wipes brow* Shew- I thought I wus in deep stuff -N- didn't know why. :p

You want more art!?! Say it isn't so... ;)

I just sold all of the good ones... except one. Woohooie! I needed that sale. I love when they say they want X amount and you take in a lot more and they almost buy you out! *Doin the happy dance*

Then I went and spent it on glass!!!!!!! Ok, well, not all of it. :D The wife would have killed me. :D

I'll post some pics of the art later. I must say I don't personally like it as much as this first one... but it may just be a matter of taste. I'll let you decide. Maybe I'll start another post and with a poll. A which one do you like better poll... ???

When I get done cutting down and fondling all this Morretti... I'll be back.

Hey smiley,

This one is very nice. Glad to see it went quick. At first I thought you had to be crazy posting this on here but you got a lot of good responses. Glad to see everything is going good for ya. I did see that you talked to my wife to other day about our auctions. Thanks for the heads up. I am starting to list a few more toys now that it is getting closer to the holidays. The pendants and beads have just been so much fun. Hope your family is doing great and there wasn't any or much problem from this hurricane season IT WAS A BAD ONE. My mother and father in law have a house in bradenton (I think that is how you spell it.) near Tampa and they were losing there minds. Talk to ya soon.

Folks, please stay on track here and avoid those comments steering toward personal attacks toward any of our members, or solicitations for future and current sales. Both of these are in violation of your user agreement. There should be no reason to close this thread, but it needs to get back on topic, which I believe was related to the showcasing of a certain piece of glass art.

I'll just start another post for the other piece to show and tell. It probably violates the user agreement to do otherwise. Let's not confuse me any more than I already am.

Hey Paul. It's really great to see you guys here. I hope we can get caught up. Just don't talk about any thing with Ebay sales or offer any thing up for sale, or even mention it may go on Ebay... Val is going to check out part of the user agreement that says we can mention a finished piece is for sale... but the jury is still out on that. I'll let you know what happens when she gets back to me. For now, just email me. PM me if you don't have it... ;)

Val, Pauls a friend and he was talking about past sales. Is that OK? Let me know on that point as well...

Sooooo since this thread has been derailed... let it crash and burn baby! We'll do another adult show and tell tomorrow. Maybe Paul can join in and show some of his pieces if he wants to. It can be a group thang!

PM me any jokes that are even questionable in the future folks... bad taste doesn't get scrutinized there. It won't derail a thread either...
