View Full Version : Water lilies

Here are three paintings I have worked on this week. They have been done using reference photos from the image library. The one of the pink one seen from above from a photo by madmum, the other two from photos by tessp.
The white one is 14"x14", the rectangular one 16"x24", and the other 18"x18". All three acrylic on canvas.
The colours of the images are pretty close to the paintings but not bang-on.
What do you think, is the subject worth pursuing a little more?

These are really good Frank. I am impressed. So you have a wider repertoire than just birds eh?

Frank you are so talented and I think you need to pursue whatever and whereever your Muse directs you. Carry on!

Thanks Carol, yes I do, I have done flowers before, as well as cats, dogs, people, a few still lifes...
Thank you Pastelmama and Bertoni. I think I will do one with a little more detail, more lilies and some golfish in a pond, as soon a s I get some more canvasses. I may be doing some landscape studies en plain air (sp) on masonite this week. First time on that surface and first time doing that type of painting.

Thanks Charlie's Mum. How did you get those pictures at the bottom of your posts? I have a banner I would like to put in mine but have not been able to figure out how to do that.
Thanks Marty. I did not get a chance to paint outside yet this week. My Mom was admitted into the hospital on Sunday with internal bleeding (she has cancer). We don't know as of yet what's happening. I did manage to work on another painting between hospital visits, it's very therapeutic. It's of a cockatoo, using a reference photo I took, on canvas.
