Just a few more lentils to end the week or maybe I should say start the month
Paparazzi Pillows, Black Lemon Garden, Stormy Blue Elf Rocks, Mint Raku Cascade

10-01-2004, 01:35 AM
Briatha, very nice sets! I love the black lemon garden!

Here is my candy cane cat...I found making the cane was much easier with gold ruby than opaque red...I'm also practicing a technique I learned from Sharon Peter's class...but instead of having a lizard wrapped around a bead, I tried a cat instead :)

10-01-2004, 01:36 AM
OMG Mary he is absolutely adorable!

10-01-2004, 01:42 AM
Wow Briatha the lentil sets rock!!! I like the 1st and last set the best, and beadreamer I love your kitty, he's adorable. Here is a set I happen to like, I have fallen in love with opal yellow. Opal yellow with new lauscha lavender and dark purple all mixed together and this is what you get.

Briatha - Love your lentils - and especially love the names - does your imagination have any bounds?
Mary - your kitty is adorable!! I can never get my cane to look like that!
Debbie -beautiful soft set (hmm wonder how that would look etched?) - I love opal yellow too!
Jan - AWESOME organic bicones! I can never get that shape quite right - WOW!
Nurse Katie - great beads - I can't quite get that color out of my raku yet...these make me want to keep trying!!
Jeff - I'm a diver and the one thing I always wanted to see (and haven't) is a seahorse!! Very COOL!

Here are my 2 for Friday - both on EBAY - both have dichroic cores, then a layer (or 2) of silver w frit, then they are "capped" in color - one lapis, one silvered purple.

Good morning! I sure did pull some bombs (not the phat kind either, they are bad, not the good bad) wow out of the kiln just now, but from day before yesterday I got a bunch of good sets, I'm giving these away in my october great glass give away (am I allow to say that?) I guess someone will politely let me know if not. anyway. They are made with that great val frit, winter blues ond one made with the raku frit (which is on a schott glass base - is it scott ? schott?) the others are on moretti, no the green one is laucha. OK.

10-01-2004, 09:17 AM
Wow! Incredible beads everyone! I just love the raku frit. I got my hands on some from another wonderful lampworker in Louisville, and used it all in one day!

Jeff... I love your sea dragon! WOW! Someday I want to get into really cool boro sculpture like that!

Here is my contribution. I had a challenge to try to make knitting needles (knitting is my other love), so I used oak dowels and made them into a point. I added two similar encased florals with cz's to top them. They are decadent! I decided to list them on ebay just to see if they even had a market!

10-01-2004, 09:32 AM

Here is alittle something from me today. I can't believe it's Oct. already!!!!!

Tell: Made with Val's Hunter orange frit over Opaque orange then encased.

Nice work ya'll.

Have a great weekend!

Gorgeous stuff today everyone! I love what everyone is doing with the raku! It's such beautiful stuff.
Sorry I can't comment on everyone's individually - out the door on the way to DD's school.
I had to post this, I was pretty proud of it. It was my first attempt putting murrini into a bead. The murrini isn't mine though - I bought it. A very nice lady by the name of Mavis made it and I bought it last weekend.
Take care all! Have a great day!

Stunning beadies this morning ya'll!! I'm still getting a kick out of those Halloween sets. Too cute!! Well, a quick drive by post from me this morning. Too much to do and I think Aiden's starting to wake up. Gotta get movin'!

10-01-2004, 11:58 AM
Wow! Great stuff!

Here's a vessel with Tink-inspired handles, and a test pillow..

10-01-2004, 12:19 PM
Carolyn -- oh my gosh -- that blue/purple/red/opal glass is gorgeous!!!

10-01-2004, 02:45 PM
Great stuff today, everyone!!! Too many to comment on every one... I gotta get to the torch... need to finish an order that needs to go to its owner tomorrow... Here's a recent piece or two:

10-01-2004, 03:50 PM
Here's something made with an "odd" Vetrofond colour. The rod is totally blah in it's original state, sort of dirty salmon, but when it strikes it's a gorgeous deep translucent red:

Margaret ... love your beads! Congratulations on being the Artist of the Month on Just beads. Well here are a few of mine for today ... Marna

10-01-2004, 04:44 PM
Popping in quickyly with a couple of beads I made last night. Going out to The Glasshive for some lessons with Kati O'meara and Deb Crowley today. It looks like we all were on the same wavelength, all of todays beads in show and tell seem to match! Congratulations on being the Artist of the Month MZ, I have always loved your beads, you deserve the award. Sheila
Todays beads are moretti glass, silver , frits and some goldstone.

10-01-2004, 05:28 PM
I really lie awake at night thinking what can I do original, what can I do original what what what zzzzzzzzzz
Particularily perturbed by my lack of originality, yesterday I saw my cicada bead (I made last winter) and I said ureeka! these are truley my own invention. I can't wait to test out all the new frits I just got on them. Here the first ones are, back sides and tummy sides, hope you don't mind seeing the real thing next to them

10-01-2004, 08:23 PM
Everybody has posted such beauties!
I finally got a decent pic of these...they are to date, my best, i think...

I need more practice but they are gettin' better!

10-01-2004, 09:34 PM

Not much for me to show lately. I have a couple bracelets I need to take photos of later... and a bunch of frit beads. But, in the mean time, here's the bug I made for our local LL757 guild auction.

The auction ends tomorrow and includes a wonderful fish by Brad Pearson. Also a set of fishie beads by Mitra Friant that just can't be done justice to in a photo... and lots of other stuff as well. The theme this month was sculptural. Next month is organics.

10-01-2004, 11:40 PM
Joanie, I love that bug! so cute!

Joanie, I love that bug! so cute!

Thanks Mary! {{{hug}}} I have a couple more I'm working on that I think will be nicer. I'm getting a bit better at the faces I think. I'll post when get them done.

By the way, I think I neglected to say, in that last post, how great the show and tells have been lately! Wowzers... the talent around here is mind boggling to say the least.

That looks like a really neat bug, but the picture is sooooooo small I can hardly see it! I run my monitor at 1920x1200. If you post pictures that are something like at least 400x400 or even better the max allowed here 500x600 we would get to see the details and neat features of your bug! :)

Please! hehe, pretty please!

I'm sorry Laura... I don't have it here to rephoto. It's with the guild member posting the auction. They do have a larger photo of it on ebay... but I don't like the angle as much... all you can see are the beaded legs and antennae. But if you'd like to see it... do an ebay search for LL757 and it will come up. You'll get to see the other auction items too... and they're much better than mine! I'll photo the next ones better I promise! THANKS!
