My very first show and tell!!! I hope I do this right :)

This is a piece showing my new color experiments. It's about 6 colors stacked and then worked. The pics don't do it justice, but I'm trying to work on depth in pictures as well... it's a continuing processl. The colors just keep coming out better and better with each piece. I'm really happy with Northstar for making all these great colors...

These are quite large pieces. Definitely not bead size. It's about 8 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. :wink2:

Well, I didn't do something right because the pics are a link... I hosted them on my own image hosting server... is this wrong? Any help for a newbie would be appreciated. I thought I followed the directions...

Oh Juls, I just love your gaffer and frit beads, especially the red/gold one. Yummmmm!!!!

Debbie, those boro beads are simply delicious ~ especially that flower!!

Gina, that's one of the prettiest sets I've seen in a while... So many flowers! Very nice work!!!

Can't believe there aren't more folks chiming in yet! It's already after 7:30 a.m. here!

Anyway, this Wicked Love set was made by request, after someone had seen my Wicked Game set. I'm real happy with it.

This is a base of millenium moss encased with cobalt. The purple is Honey Amber... it's in the Double Amber family. The millenium moss sparkle shows through the cobalt. One picture shows this a little. I love making these little vials.

Well, first of all ~ VERY lovely work!!! But, I'd love to see a pic of the entire piece(s). I can't tell if it's one item you're showing multiple pics of, or many...

Next, there are two easy ways you can put your pix here for all to see.

One, you can click on Manage Attachments in the Additional Options box, below where you type in your message.

Or, you can use the Image Uploader option found in the Quick Links in the blue menu bar at the top. Whichever you prefer. I prefer to use the image uploader so that folks don't have to click on the thumbnail to see the pix. It's right there in the face whether or not they want to see it! LOL!

Good luck and have fun!   And welcome to WC!!!

Juls, those are gorgeous!! S&T's get better and better all the time! Mr. Smiley, your piece is beautiful. When you post, scroll farther down the page to manage pictures and you can upload pics there. I see you found it! :D

It's one piece... and I wasn't sure if I could post a pic of the whole thing. Not quite sure what the rules of engagement are. It's a personal massager... I just didn't want to offend or get my hand slapped... Any clarification on this would be grand...

Are you saying that it might resemble a certain human body part? I *think* it would be ok to post here, but put a hiney icon on your post if you. I, for one, would like to see it. You couldn't possibly offend me, but I know others here that are sensitive to that kinda stuff, so it was thoughtful of you to consider their feelings.

A hiny? What does that do?

A hiny? What does that do?

It lets people know that your post may include a picture that may offend some people. When you look through the little icons below when posting it is the little orange one that looks like buns, or a rear end! LOL

I think I would just start it in it's own thread with the hiney icon in the Title of it. That way there will be no mistake for those who might be affended. Looks like a beautiful piece with great color.

Good Morning!
I'm running out the door, but I'll be back to comment in a bit...
Here are mine for the day.. I'm really happy with the 3D Bouquet...and plan on expanding on the idea soon.. it was inspired by Diana East's recent work with wire:

Yay! I was back in time to edit...
Juls... Lovely! You captured a bit of a boro feel in those.
Debbie, Nice Job. I'd love to see a close-up of your flower!
WOW Gina! Gorgeous set!!
Mr. Smiley,... That's a stunning piece... I too would like to see that in a thread of it's own. You make me want to pull out my boro and finally learn to work that color.
Great Sets Debbie... Those little heart barrels are so sweet.

I can't tell you how envious I am of the floral work here! I've just never gotten the knack to make decent flowers.

Here's a set I did for Corina's latest bead challenge as well as a set of translucent snakeskin beads that I can't remember if I ever posted here. The deep red glow is caused by light shining through the beads.

Really cool beads today.

I have 2 sets I can't remember if I have shown here before. If a repeat, I'm sorry. Both of these sets used the same color of orange transparent for the twisty, but with the green, looks red.

Hey, Carl, those snakeskin beads are Amazing!!!!!

Mr.Smiley
09-28-2004, 06:18 PM
Carl, is that snakeskin pattern done in boro. If so, what's the color combo? I really like that color... those beads look really earthy and primitive! I love it! I have been getting something similar out of the blue/green amber purple colors. I really like that whole color family. It's fun to play with them on top of others. The way the light shows through is very nice... :)

Here's some stained glass work. I've been out of the studio for several weeks and have not completed anything in some time. For those that have seen this on the wearable forum please forgive me. I'm just so excited to have gotten the creative winds back in my sails!

This is a suite of jewelry for my neighbor to wear to her homecoming dance. It's a pendant, matching earrings and a "button" to be sewn onto the bow at the waist of the gown. The center of the pendant mimmics the design on the front of the gown, it has a swoosh that starts at the waist (where the bow is) and moves towards the hem gradually getting bigger. The swoosh on the dress is the same color as the swoosh on the pendant. The rest of the gown is black. This is the second piece I've created for this energetic teen. I created another pendant for her to wear to last years homecoming dance. She's so much fun to work with! :-)

Enjoy!

Thank you, Gina!

Smiley, it's not boro, but Moretti. And that intense earthy green is tricky to come by while keeping that translucent quality. Most times it's a washed-out completely transparent green-brown or a totally opaque green. I probably made a dozen to get those five. I was positively estatic when the heart came out of the kiln with the right color! I'll be putting them up on eBay in the next day or so.

Great work everyone. Since most guys don't wear beads, one of my friends wanted me to make something and we came up with the idea of an octopus bottle stopper since he's a diver. Still have to epoxy it to the stopper. Looks better in person, but I only have access to a scanner.

WOW! Mr. Smiley! I had already guessed what the object was in your pictures from the dimensions you gave! :wink2: How wonderful! I would love to see the whole thing!

And, while you're at it, would you mind explaining for boro-less folks like me what you mean by stacked colors? I guess that's how you get that wonderful blend/swoosh of so many colors, but how do you do that? Do you fuse it all together first and then work it in the flame?

I just love boro colors, and from what I can tell, this piece is a gorgeous example of that!

Great work!

Thank you for the compliments... :)

To stack the colors, you just lay them on top of eachother and smooh down flat while molten. That way they are really thin layers... The order of the layers makes all the difference in the world. I love playing with it. As far as showing the whole piece, I'd rather not post it here. PM me and I'll get you a pic. I just want to keep this forum clean and I try not to offend any body...
