The colours come across to me a little jagged and it seems a wee bit dark in the front right. I am only new at this so don't take me too strongly. I like it though http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

The colours look a bit "heavy", the purple on the rock should be repeated elsewhere in the picture, some indication of where the bank is would help also, great attempt though. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

I was wondering what color you use to get that really black look? I don't use a black in my watercolor paintings...I mix other colors to get a really dark.

Your darks are commanding all the attention in this piece.

A little bit of bank to keep the trees from looking like they are coming out of the lake might be better - and I agree about the darks being a little over-done. I like the loose and free style of this http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

Rosanna I agree with Hugh the purple or mauve worries me on the hill top also I never have black in my palette,I mix my blacks,I use burnt sienna, winsor newton green blue, or the winsor red blue ,(if you use another brand other than winsor & newton as they dont have thalo blue ,use this instead of the winsor green blue or the winsor red green) I even add prussian blue, crimson red ,and burnt umber, I do these what I have suggested ,leave some out if you wish ,just try until you feel that you have the right black you want ok I mix mostly all my colors as far as that goes,Have fun Rosanna http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Fay
