View Full Version : Dichro Honker!

I was lucky enough to get into a class with Stevi Belle and at Southern Flames in Atlanta over the weekend. She's a fantastic teacher and showed us how to work with all kinds of different glass, powders, frits and more. I got a little carried away with this bead that kept growing until it was over 1.5" x 1.5", but I'm very happy with it.

the picture does not do justice to this bead at all! I got to see it in person and it's great! Good job, Terry

Gorgeous bead. Lucky you, for getting to take a great class, too.
It's about 3:30 in the morning -- at first, I thought your thread said "Dichro Hooker."
Guess I should go to bed!! :p

I got the dichro honker as well but yours is much nicer. I certainly learned what not to do with that project and many others in her class. I have to keep the beads around to remind me why combination a or b did NOT work out. :D
P.S. - ah that is YOUR dichro honker, not Stevi's. I got Stevi's. Mine is a black mess.

Thanks for all the kind remarks, everyone! I made a vessel in that class as well that turned out really well, but one of the handles got broken off. :crying: Once Mr. Ivan gets out of here, I'm going to try to make another one.

i especially love the bubbles, its gorgeous! i feel like such a newbie asking but are those bubbles inside or silver on the outside? its hard to tell, and i havent gotten into playing with silver yet, so i have no clue.

Thanks, Flameglass! Those dots are made with fine silver wire that's wrapped around the bead while it's still very warm, then the bead is put back into the flame to melt in the silver. I love the look myself!

I love big beads and that one is BEAUTIFUL . . .lots of colors, sparkles and silver!
Oh and I love your tinyhead too Terry :)

Thanks on both counts, Ginny! That's my border collie Bizkit in my tinyhead. She's a very sweet girl and a big ham when it comes to cameras.
