View Full Version : Follow-up on a past Structured Critique thread
With how well the structured critique threads seem to be working, I thought it would be nice to show you which direction my work went in after all the great feedback and advice I got in the thread I started a few weeks ago.
Here is a link to the original critique thread where I asked for opinions. LINK (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=203329&highlight=critique)
If you don't want to click on that to read the whole thread, here is a simple picture of the original bead I had posted.
Here are three of my latest attempts and I am getting happier as I go.
Thanks for looking and thanks especially for all the help.

Black, white, dark violet and mosaic green stripes on a base of sea green:
Avocado green, black, and ivory stripes on a base of amber rose:

WOWZA!!! I don't know how you could improve on those. I esp love that last one, and the green one and well....all 3!! Mary I have often admired your beads and your patience and skill in encasing your florals. Now you have a very different technique that I admire you for.

Nice improvements, Mary! BRAVO!
I especially like the middle one with the sea green base and black/white swirls - the bulbous ends on it are especially nice!

Hey, I think I got that first one from Mary as an extra suprise when I purchased one of her beautiful florals! It was such a nice suprise and a beautiful bead to boot! Thanks Mary!

Love love love the direction you've taken them!
I look forward to seeing the color combinations that you continue to choose. Good work!

I'm happy to see where you've taken this... the changes made a great improvement, particularly:
- encasing helps to brighten the color
- the shaping adds another dimension of interest to the bead, which works well with the simple color patterns on the bead.
Great job, and thanks for sharing!!!

I was the very happy winner of that middle green banded bead!!! I got my package today, and there in the package was the third bead too! I was coveting that third bead, thinking it was gorgeous and wondering why it wasn't on ebay too... I figured... "Hmmm...bet Mary decided to keep that one for herself!" In person they are absolutely wonderful and I definitely think you're on the right track Mary!
(You guys would have laughed to see me unwrap the beadies. I was like...ooh...ooh..my green bead is here...then I was like..OOOH OOOH I got the other bead I loved too!! How awesome! DHTB was laughing at me, but I don't care *grin*)

All three really pop!
Thanks everybody!! I adore making these beads. LOL I would keep making them if not a single one ever sold, but it sure is a nice bonus! Thanks Misty! I know the beady babies have found a loving home with you.
Dontcha just love the structured critique theads.

I'm the happy winner of the very first bead, and I would love to see you continue to do what you're doing....you are on to something here! They are different, I haven't seen anything quite like these.
Like your encased floral, the flowers so tiny, and these striped beads, so detailed and the encased colors pop! It baffles me, I haven't the faintest idea of how you do it! (hehe, and on a HH too! :p ;) :D )
